tar Wars blockbuster "The Force Awakens" proved that a sci-fi film with female and black lead characters can be immensely successful.

When asked Thursday night at the US-Ireland Alliance's annual Oscar Wilde Awards if future Star Wars would continue featuring diverse characters on the big screen, director J.J. Abrams remained hopeful.

"When I talk about inclusivity it's not excluding gay characters. It's about inclusivity," Abrams said, according to the Daily Beast. "So of course."

Considering how many planets are in the films alone -- not to mention the ones mentioned in the Expanded Universe, which may or may not be gleaned for new movie plots -- it stands to reason there would be gay characters.

"To me, the fun of Star Wars is the glory of possibility," Abrams said. "So it seems insanely narrow-minded and counterintuitive to say that there wouldn't be a homosexual character in that world.

ok JJ thanx for killing a good series..you have no idea which way the pendulum has swung.. cool

Fascinating article, Sysconfig. Stuff would be a total non-issue for future Star Wars releases in the Netherlands, the very question will leave most Dutch scratching their heads. But I realize this matter will be calculated in dollars at the worldwide box office. Will US evangelicals and fundamentalist Christians everywhere (plus some Hindus and Muslims)(plus all of Russia!) stay away from an all ages movie including gay characters / stars, and will this affect the bottomline?

Last thought: do we really need Star Wars to help further emancipate the LGBT community, or is it enough that the SW brand generated endless family fun for some 34 years (and still going strong!)? Billions above my paygrade I'm afraid, Sys smiley.

As always, I'm rooting for the return of Jabba the Hut. I want to see him to bully and eat people alive (or at least a few little aliens). How to beat that for family entertainment!! (I'm hollering and jeering as I press Post now.)

Don't forget China..hehe..

The article struck me as more of the same type of pc we see being used with muslims ..as if one can legislate assimilation and acceptance...the way we legislate traffic stop signs and lights..Its why we have the backlash in politics here..
If you think white males here feel endangered..how about straight males and females.

I have always noted the sexualization theme of monsters and vicims and aliens with violence thrown in repulsive. I find the whole interspecies thing bordering on bestial. Just my opinion.
its time we drew a line.

^ For blended give me Chivas Regal but single malts are the way to go though they get a bit pricey......
Try some Laphroaig or Glenfiddich.

I prefer Glennfiddich myself but my finances prefer otherwise.

This thread is indicative of the direction society is moving anyway. California now recognizes three genders for all state programs. I am surprised the list of genders is not longer:
Other
None
All
Varies

Ha something we agree on, Wu: I love the Chivas and Glenfiddich, esp. 12 yr old! (Tried the Glenfiddich 18 years old once, and cannot recommend it in terms of taste vs. value embarassed found that taste somehow 'unclear' and 'confused', a little bit disappointing at a black market donor liver price.

Dominican Catholic College Forbids Entry by Gay U.S. Ambassador

User Image

The College of St. John the Baptist in the Dominican Republic has erected a sign banning the U.S. Ambassador to that country from entering the campus.

The banner across the front of the school says, “The entrance of the U.S. Ambassador of the United States is not permitted in this institute.”

In recent days the Catholic Bishops of the Caribbean country sent a strong letter condemning the behavior of the openly gay U.S Ambassador, who has been using his post to promote his lifestyle and the homosexual agenda.

Brewster, often in the company of his “husband,” is charged by the Bishops with not only pushing the homosexual agenda on the largely Catholic country but disparaging Dominican customs and violating the country’s constitution and international law.

The bishops have accused Brewster of “parading Mr. Bob Satawake as his husband,” causing “great distress among parents, who have the right to determine how their children will be educated and feel that these visits area an imposition of values contrary to what they are trying to instill in their children.”

Besides being Ambassador to the Dominican Republic, James Brewster is also a noted gay activist serving as National NGBT Co-Chairman of the Democratic National Committee along with serving as director of the anti-Christian Human Rights Campaign.

Moreover, the work of Brewster comes with the strong endorsement and even official approval of the U.S. State Department that in 2011 made homosexual and transgender rights a key component of U.S. foreign policy.

In a speech two weeks ago to the Human Rights Campaign, U.S. Ambassador to the U.N. Samantha Power said homosexual and transsexual rights have been “weaved into the DNA of our foreign policy.” This from an administration that took until this week to call the slaughter of Christians by ISIS “genocide.”

In their letter, the bishops used a phrase used first by Pope Francis at the UN in September. They call Brewster’s pro-homosexual work in the country “ideological colonization.”

The sign at St. John the Baptist College has already been defaced by the champions of tolerance: “F**k intolerance.”

IMO..Ambassador Stevens was martyred this way
