Dominican Catholic College Forbids Entry by Gay U.S. Ambassador

The College of St. John the Baptist in the Dominican Republic has erected a sign banning the U.S. Ambassador to that country from entering the campus.

The banner across the front of the school says, “The entrance of the U.S. Ambassador of the United States is not permitted in this institute.”

In recent days the Catholic Bishops of the Caribbean country sent a strong letter condemning the behavior of the openly gay U.S Ambassador, who has been using his post to promote his lifestyle and the homosexual agenda.

Brewster, often in the company of his “husband,” is charged by the Bishops with not only pushing the homosexual agenda on the largely Catholic country but disparaging Dominican customs and violating the country’s constitution and international law.

The bishops have accused Brewster of “parading Mr. Bob Satawake as his husband,” causing “great distress among parents, who have the right to determine how their children will be educated and feel that these visits area an imposition of values contrary to what they are trying to instill in their children.”

Besides being Ambassador to the Dominican Republic, James Brewster is also a noted gay activist serving as National NGBT Co-Chairman of the Democratic National Committee along with serving as director of the anti-Christian Human Rights Campaign.

Moreover, the work of Brewster comes with the strong endorsement and even official approval of the U.S. State Department that in 2011 made homosexual and transgender rights a key component of U.S. foreign policy.

In a speech two weeks ago to the Human Rights Campaign, U.S. Ambassador to the U.N. Samantha Power said homosexual and transsexual rights have been “weaved into the DNA of our foreign policy.” This from an administration that took until this week to call the slaughter of Christians by ISIS “genocide.”

In their letter, the bishops used a phrase used first by Pope Francis at the UN in September. They call Brewster’s pro-homosexual work in the country “ideological colonization.”

The sign at St. John the Baptist College has already been defaced by the champions of tolerance: “F**k intolerance.”

IMO..Ambassador Stevens was martyred this way

Sys, your post leaves me so positively baffled (in a positive way that is smiley) that I just had to go google whatever you were having at the time (uh.. Cutty Sark + optional mix).

Glasgowian Scotch Whisky it is, described as exceptionally mild and soft, named after the graceful clipper (drawing on every bottle) and a 'short skirt' from Robert Burns poem. I will try, even add the splash of Ginger Ale sometimes.

To your post. Couldn't it be argued that America is unnecessarily offending Dominican sensibilities, while being overly arduous in avoiding offense to the (then) Libya leadership, leading up to Ambassador Stevens' killing? rolleyes

hehe..good points..

I would argue they contrary to diplomatic decorum and a long practice in researching understanding cultural norms and practices prior to an assignment..not only smashed a host country to pieces..but in handing it over to extreme fundamentalists, as opposed to Ghadaffis secular groups,
essentially put the icing on the cake....Stevens would be alive under Ghadaffi..
In the Christian dominican republic..less radical but still traditional..going in public as a gay person is usually cause for laughter, if only behind their backs....but never results attacks.its accepted in Europe..look at all the old italian movies..
Walter Mercado was a very popular TV star and accepted all over South America...
but the difference is it is a normal evolution of acceptance..versus here a political device to put a visible face in every sphere for the sake of PC, to show how diverse we are..
Inviting oneself with partner openly to such a religious quarter is like asking what happens when we mix petrol and a lighted match.
Now..imagine if the good ambassadress had taken incremental steps..establish rapport.in the community...instead of jumping in saying well here we are..take it or leave it..with the school choosing to "leave it"

Query #1 Naah. Its actually the same Doc.Originally it was LGBT characters, lesbian to be specific.. introduced in Starwars..hollywood under pressure? accidental? or mission creep of a larger agenda..No big deal in Europe..but The US likes to beat the Russians over the head with it..makes it policy..makes it THE LAW..as if it was superior..Everybody should accept..THE LAW

Query #2 I've always done that with titles..to keep things current.for .entertainment..as well as enlightenment..keeps things moving along.. grin

Hmm..Good Point..Why is that?

PayPal, Apple lecture North Carolina, do business in countries far more hostile to gays

PayPal drew a line in the sand when North Carolina enacted a law prohibiting people from using the restrooms of the opposite sex, but critics say that line got washed away on the shores of Malaysia, a nation that consistently ranks among the least LGBT-friendly in the world.

The company canceled its plan to build a global operations center in Charlotte after the passage of HB2, which CEO Daniel Schulman called discrimination against the transgendered. He noted that the move would cost North Carolina 400 well-paying jobs.

But Malaysia’s Penal Code 187 — which punishes homosexual conduct with whippings and up to 20 years in prison — did not stop PayPal from opening in 2011 a global operations center there that it estimated would employ 500 workers by 2013.

“We chose Malaysia because of its highly skilled, globally competitive and multilingual workforce, in addition to a world-class business environment and technology infrastructure,” John McCabe, senior vice president for global operations, said at the time.

But PayPal is not an isolated corporation, nor is Malaysia an isolated country.

Whether it’s Apple opening stores in Saudi Arabia or American Airlines looking to dominate the Cuban travel market, many of the companies that have threatened to cut business ties to North Carolina over its bathroom bill are eager to do business in countries with regimes far more repressive of gays (and everyone else).

PayPal’s international headquarters are located in Singapore, where sexual contact between males is punishable by up to two years in prison, and even littering can be punished by flogging. The company has a software development center in Chennai, India, where same-sex marriage is prohibited.

Matt Sharp, legal counsel for the Alliance Defending Freedom, said PayPal’s actions internationally speak louder than its words at home.

“They’ve got a political agenda that they’re trying to push in the U.S. But it definitely does not line up with what their actions are saying around the world in places like Malaysia and others,” Mr. Sharp said.

Apple is among the other major corporations that have taken to the pulpit to lecture North Carolina for its sins despite doing business with anti-gay foreign regimes. CEO Tim Cook was one of several high-profile tech CEOs who signed a letter to Republican Gov. Pat McCrory calling on him to repeal the legislation.

“We are disappointed in your decision to sign this discriminatory legislation into law,” the letter reads. “The business community, by and large, has constantly communicated to lawmakers at every level that such laws are bad for our employees and bad for business.”

But, as Mr. Sharp points out, that has not stopped Apple from opening stores in Saudi Arabia, where gay people are regularly executed in public and cross-dressing is also a criminal offense. Pro-gay and trans advocacy are illegal, as is every religion except Islam.

“We’ve seen the same thing with Apple and some of these other companies that are fine doing business in Saudi Arabia and other countries that are extremely oppressive of the LGBT community,” Mr. Sharp said.

North Carolina Rep. Robert Pittenger noted that PayPal also provides its payment services in countries where restrooms are the least of the transgender community’s worries.

“PayPal does business in 25 countries where homosexual behavior is illegal, including 5 countries where the penalty is death, yet they object to the North Carolina Legislature overturning a misguided ordinance about letting men in to the women’s bathroom?” said Mr. Pittenger, a Republican, in a statement. “Perhaps PayPal would like to try and clarify this seemingly very hypocritical position.”
