Good list..I have all of those except for the Far East Family Band...but I'll have my friend burn me a copy.

My list: from the old classic prog school

1. King Crimson- In The Court of the Crimson King
2. Yes- Close To the Edge
3. Genesis- Selling England By the Pound/ Foxtrot...equallly great imo
4. ELP- 1st lp ( Brain Salad Surgery is also great)
5. Pink Floyd- Dark Side
6. Moody Blues- In Search of the Lost Chord (all of the early lp's are great imo)
7. Caravan- In The Land of Grey and Pink
8. Hatfield and the North
9. Renaissance- Turn of the Cards
10. Kansas- Song For America (Left Overture and Point of Know Return are also very good)

Like your List as well and have many (most) of those as well, Seems you are a big Canterbury fan(?) I have most of the Caravan's and some Curved Air and a few others as well.

OK, how about a 70's Guitar Rock album list?

1. Robin Trower: Twice Removed From Yesterday
2. Budgie: Never Turn Your Back on a Friend
3. Allman Bros: Live
4. Status Quo: Hello
5. Rory Gallagher: Live in Europe
6. Santana: Lotus
7. Led Zeppelin: 4
8. Marshall Tucker Band: Where We All Belong
9. Ten Years After: Recorded Live
10. Scorpions: Lonesome Crow

2. Santana- Abraxas
3. Cream- Wheels of Fire technically earlier than the 70's but a killer guitar lp
4. Allman bros- Live at the Fillmore east
5. Jeff Beck Group- Rough and Ready
6. Wishbone Ash- Argus
7. Rolling Stones- Sticky Fingers/and or Get Yer Yas Yas Out
8. James Gang- Rides Again

Ineresting choice from Mythos selected Scorpions Lonesome Crow their debut album from 1972, this happens to be one of my top Scorps albums.
Probably the best line up they ever had, a progressive jazzy spacey type album featuring stunning axework from Michael Schenker at 16 years old!
Scorpions lost the plot from 1980 onwards, American sounding style and it just didn`t suit what the band were really all about, try Lovedrive from 79, one of their finest, PowerKnight wink

Yeah, I was a huge Krautrock fan since the early 70's and believe it or not the first Scorpions got lumped in with Krautrock, even though they later evolved into the prototypical heavy metal band.

Their first release was very jazzy-spacy just as you said Knight...

Good list as well, damn I forgot Wishbone Ash, still love their first four (or so) releases, I saw them back in the day and believe it or not the openning band was KISS and the second band was Camel, with Wishbone Ash headlining. Another one I left off was ZZ Top: Tres Hombres

Let's go for the tri-fecta, with Top 60's Guitar Albums...

1. Yardbirds: Live w/Jimmy Page (bought this when I was about 14)
2. Hendrix: Electric Ladyland (Jimi invented Prog?)
3. Quicksilver: Happy Trails (still awesome)
4. Doors: First (def. a guitar album, the guitar solo in Light My Fire, still send chills down my spine)
5. Cream: Wheels of Fire
6. Savoy Brown: Blue matter (very under rated w/Lonesome Dave of Foghat on guitar)
7. Johnny Winter: Second Winter (another that does not get it's due respect)
8. Iron Butterfly: In-a-gadda-da-vida

The Scorpions albums I can highly recommend are -

Fly To The Rainbow
In Trance
Virgin Killer
Taken By Force
Tokyo Tapes

This is classic vintage Scorpions stunning progressive hard rock, now playing Rainbow-Stargazer and A Light In The Black from Rising, the ultimate fantasy sword n sorcery HR/HM dramatics ever performed by any HR/HM band. Rising and Stargazer etched in stone forever, monumental neo-classical progressive metal. PowerKnight wink

Again so many lp's to choose from....

1. Cream-Wheels of Fire or Disraeli Gears
2. Hendrix- Electric Ladyland (don't think Jimi invented prog at all..he was blues rock with some other things thown in. IMO Moody Blues, Procol Harum, Crimson, etc invented classic prog rock...)
3. Savoy Brown- Blue Matter or ...Raw Sienna , my favorite by them.
4. Ten Years After- Undead ( a very underrated band but their first 3 or 4 lp's were great blues rock with Lee burning up the frets.
5. The STones-Let It Bleed-...Taylor and Richards are superb
6. Jeff Beck- Truth...Beck at his bluesy best in the early days with Ron Wood and Rod Stewart
7. Led Zep- 1st..end of 68-early 69 but has to be on my list since it's a killer guitar debut by Page with his own band.
8. Vanilla Fudge-1st lp--a psychedelic blues guitar craze and Bogart and Appice went on to play with Jeff Beck for a while.
9. Blue Cheer- both Vincebus Eruptum and Outside inside are killer psych blues rock with awesome guitar by Stephens
10. Fleetwood Mac-The Play On...1969 again but a must guitar lp by Peter Green

one of my favorite overlooked west coast guitar bands...

The Illinois Speed Press....these guys were much better than the Eagles at rocking out with a country sound...and were on record and playing in LA before the Eagles became known.
