Queen, I saw the video of the 10:30 event, those were flares dropped by the military. As I said the real UFO passed over at 8:30, I know because my friends saw it. I think if you watch the TV special, you will understand. I also think the real question is, Why did the military drop those flares? Perhaps to search for the 8:30 object or to muddy the waters in discussions like these. cool

kirk i think the majority of us have "seen" the video as well hon. thats why i wont change my mind on it. I dont think that its a huge biggie if you prefer to think of them as flares. we at least agree there was a ufo that night.

Go to the website UFO Evidence. Click on the Mufon Phoenix lights story. Mufon interviewed multiple witnesses who saw the 8:30 UFO. Then notice that one of the witnesses who saw the 8:30 UFO also saw the 10:30 flares appear and sink beneath the mountains. All of the witnesses who saw an outline of a UFO, saw it at 8:30. The only thing that was seen at 10:30 were the famous lights that we all have seen over the Indian Reservation. I think the military dropped those flares to look for the 8:30 object or to confuse the situation. One of the TV specials did a detailed analysis of the 10:30 event. They shot daytime video from the same location the lights were filmed from in the famous video. The flares lit up one at a time, and then disappeared as they slowly desended below the level of the mountains. This was shown quite clearly when you match up the daytime video with the nighttime video. I think this is an important point, because it shows that the Air Force was either interested in something out there in the desert, or they were interested in creating a cover story for the original UFO. Personally, I think they were looking for the original UFO. cool

True, we all believe there definitely was a UFO that night be it 8:30 or some other time. The rest is history.

Kirk must be talking about flares somewhere. Because the huge triangle thousands saw was up there for an extended duration. It was not flares. Personally I think a person would have to be desperate to deny reality, to trully believe the Phoenix Triangle was flares. Too many people saw it as a Triangle ship. Live long and prosper

Here is what I think happened. The UFO flys over Phoenix at 8:30. Reports begin to pour in as shown by the Mufon info. The Air Force becomes aware and sends out fighters to look for the slow-moving low altitude object that was seen at 8:30. How does a jet fighter locate a slow-moving low altitude object? With high intensity flares! They drop the flares in a wide pattern over the desert so they can locate the UFO. The flares drop slowly by parachute and illuminate the desert, so the fighters can see anything at low altitiude. The UFO has probably left the area by that time, and the flares leave the Air Force with a great cover story. cool

I only saw the Phoenix Lights thing on the peter Jennings special and it seemed they were trying to present several angles, so I can't say much here. I might look at the vidoe on UFO Evidence and see what I think.
But I agree, there was a UFO there and the rest is history. I also believe our military would have been in the area as soon as reports were pouring in, or should I say, as soon as they tracked it. Other than that, I can't be sure. I will look at the vdieo though

On another topic, does anyone know what happened to CFI's lawsuit about Kecksburg? Their website has not been updated in over a year. I emailed several people including Leslie Kean and got no response. I also spend several hours trying to find what Leslie Kean has done since 2003 and could find nothing on the web except an interview she did with a deathrow inmate from a year ago. There was a great deal of publicity about the lawsuit in 2003 and now CFI and Leslie Kean seem to have dropped off the radar screen. cool

Forgot all about it and haven't read anything on it. Which probably means it's buried.

There was a show on Kecksburg on the History channel on last Saturday night, probably a rerun, but I had not seen it before. But things do get dragged out in court for so long when they want to put them off.

It makes it easier for those that only use the top-ten on the bottom of the front board. Only do it when there's been an unusual amount of threads posted on a given day.

Ok. Coming home from Lloydminster this afternoon, I saw a small black military jet fly approx the height of a grain elevator, heading in a southeast direction. It wasn't travelling too too fast but it moved. I just couldn't believe I was seeing this. Was incredible! I don't even know what kind of jet it was. cheesy
