In July 1966, us kids were sitting on my front porch, listening to the radio (AM), when the news came over...
...Another one that died way too young.

Bobby Fuller yes, even though he didn`t actually write the classic I Fought The War etc, it`s the way he interepreted and deilvered the song.

"I Fought The Law" as done by the BF4 had that raw, high energy, garage band sound I loved so much, and still do.

I have always loved the Doors too, actually since I was about 12, I have all their albums and also have them all on (remastered), I always laugh at that chick on the Doors live album, you know where Jim says talks about being a Sagaterius and you her her say, so am I and then he says it is all BS and she agrees...sorry I explained it poorly, but you fans will know exactly what I am talking about...

The Doors ........... and yet another 60s musician who died at that magical age of 27. What was it about that number?

They had a few decent tracks but man was I let down after Spirit with these guys. Spirit was a true original and imho one of the best that ever existed at that time period. Jo Jo Gunne, and what's with that lame name, didn't have the originality that Spirit had nor the songwriting depth.

All of the Spirit lp's were great but 12 Dreams was special.

I don't care what your opinion is Wu. Gunne had their share of good music. That track is nowhere near their best, only the best known. Music need not always be technically detailed to be great. Sometimes it's just a great atmosphere it sets. There are times one comes home fatigued beyond all reason, that the more relaxed or mellow, the better. Extreme physical exertion often leaves me in that mood.

Intense music after an intense day of something like falling timber? Asking for trouble. As the saying goes, work hard, play hard. I found on occasion that somebody else might easily pay for too much jump up and down after a day like that. cool

One of my all-time favs is Happy Trails by QMS..!

And now fast-forwarding to 1986, an extremely unappreciated and under-rated band called the Wild Swans released an absolute gem titled Bringing Home the Ashes. They had that classic Brit sound, reminding one of bands like The Smiths, Echo & the Bunnymen, Talk Talk, etc

(Guitar player in the first vid, looks like he is wearing a Star Trek shirt)

Anyone else liking the Wild Swans?
