I have and still go for the studio version of Child In Time from In Rock, it`s a stunning song very emotional and you never tire from it. I have never understood why Blackmore didn`t replicate the exact solo passage live, he left out the beginning before he let`s rip into the frantic 100 mile an hour guitar shred.
It`s the slow passage first and he hits just single notes but they seem to last forever and he holds the notes like a demon, it`s the depth and feel and intensity.
There aren`t many guitar players around past or present who can muster this sounding simple effect, in search of the lost notes, and he found a few of them, PowerKnight wink

I bought the remastered 'In Rock' with extra tracks about a year ago....I like it better than Machine Head.

Machine Head, thee Purple opus but I`m a Fireball fanatic always have been always will be, it is my all time Purple album very surreal in parts very spacious very progressive. In Rock is a blaster Speed King was the original innovator of speed metal back in 1970!!!
Did you Know Blackers played his Gibson cherry red on In Rock and not a Strat! He even managed to create a Fender sound on a Gibson guitar, PowerKnight wink

I remember when I first heard Fireball. In 1971 my friend Jake had a small efficiency apt at college and I was there one day and he played it. It definitely kicked butt. I still recall him playing that as well as Edgar Winter and the first Weather Report lp. Those were the days....always some really good music coming out every week.
Led Zep 4 came out that year and most of us were blown away and it overshadowed many other good lp's.... and I started to seriously get into prog around then with Yes, Genesis, Crimson, ELP, etc...sadly I missed out on other gems that got lost in the crowd.

One of my favorite bands back then..... cool

Good lp as are the first 3 before it which are actually more experimental......by Loaded Reed started to get 'commercial' with some poppier songs but still good material.
btw..not one of my favorite bands... I always had a problem with his out of key sing/talking vocals...but I liked the songs in general. I wish the others would have tried their hand at vocals. Some of the early John Cale solo lps are good too...and of course the early Reed solo ones but his later ones just left me cold.

The past musical climate of the late 60s into the early 70s and more was a great time full of innovative music and bands it represented the zeitgeist of the time, very special moments and even though it was individualistic it spawned a collective of musical genres.
I think today many bands and musicians take themselves far too seriously in trying to convey their message in music, it`d become far to fragmented in trying to sound individual, a collective frame hosts much more positive results, I don`t expect everyone to understand that one! PowerKnight wink

Skyfall is a cracking Bond movie, Daniel Craig has re-invented Bond, Adele`s Bond theme is a modern day classic Bond theme, what a song what a voice, Bond is back! PowerKnight wink
