...With The Doors, rock music reached the highest pik it could reach, and then it was it...

Come sir, surely not so.

I suppose it depends upon how narrowly one defines rock music.

would you, for instance, include such as Led Zepplin, Cream, Black Sabbath as rock music ?

If so, doors probably wouldn't rate in the top 5.

I liked the Doors but they wouldn't be in my top 10.

Decent wiki piece on James.....
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Jim_Morrison

I guess the critics aren;t as high on him as you are having placed him only at #47 in Rolling Stones list and #22 on Classic Rock's list. And The Doors 41 on Stone's band list...Heh..but what do critics know about real music and poetry anyway..? wink

PS...can some one fix the board so it loads without the dragline now at the bottom..?
sad

Morrison like so many of the all time great`s had sheer magnetism, a presence an aura around him but along with so many of his like succumbed to the rock n roll lifestyle that eventually killed him, The Doors cracking band, PowerKnight wink

Looks like a majority of members here really dig some hard rock, prog rock etc, brilliant great tastes in music, although I thought Collins managed to pull it off as the replacement singer for Gabriel it`s the Gabriel Genesis I go for.
And Then There Were Three is a very good album bought it the week it came it out, apparently Collins has suffered severe back problems during his constant drumming days in the past and has said he may not be able to perform on drums again?
I`m not sure if that is 100% true or not but I picked up on it somewhere, Selling England By The Pound is a personal favourite Genesis album of mine, PowerKnight wink

I'm a fan of Eno and Ferry/Roxy Music. Also like the Church , Star, and the Chain.
Saw Roxy in Chicago at UIC in the early 80's many years ago when they did their last tour before they officially broke up the first time.
Never had the pleasure to see Eno live.
Saw Mazzy Star open for the Cocteau Twins in Chicago many years ago.
That was an interesting era of 'shoe gazing music'.
cool

One of my favorite Cocteau songs.....still gives me chills.
