[Bring on the Lucie - Freeda People]

We don't care what flag you're waving
We don't even want to know your name
We don't care where you're from or where you're going
All we know is that you came
You're making all our desicions
We have just one request of you
That while you're thinking things over
Here's something you just better do

Free the people now
Do it do it do it now

Well we were caught with our hands in the air
Don't desapir paranoia is everywhere
We can shake it with love when we're scared
So let's shout it aloud like a prayer

We understand your paranoia
But we don't want to play your game
You think you're cool and know what you are doing
666 is your name
So while you're jerking off each other
You better bear this thought in mind
Your time is up you better know it
But maybe you don't read the signs

Well you were caught with your hands in the kill
And you still got to swallow your pill
As you slip and you slide down the hill
On the blood of the people you killed

Stop the killing now
Do it do it do it now
Bring on the Lucie

This was a song that flew under the radar of success, yet it has a cool vibe to it, ya think?

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VdfzGcejeQc

Lyrics to Home Of The Brave :
Oh God of Hell
I said I love the suit
That the devil gave me
To wear to Beirut
Where the whores are dancing
On the table tops
And the juke box plays
Apocalyptic bebop

Well I love Paris
I love the dizzy streets
Where the flowers of sin
Bloom in the heat
If I were a ghost
I'd be pleased
Living among these
French mysteries

But the place to go's
Another latitude
Where Jesus is wearing
His blue suede shoes
And the pink neon lights
Up the thoroughfares
Between what is
And what's not there
You know the place
It's not too far away
Let's take a trip
To the Home of the Brave

Forget about London
Forget about Spain
Get out of New York
Take the Train to the Plane
Hong Kong smells like dying fish
And Berlin still stinks of Auschwitz
I wanna go where the wild things play
I wanna go to the Home of the Brave

Somebody meet me at the airport
At about half past ten
Tell Jose, Nikita and all the boys
Down in the bunker
Marc Campbell is coming home again

I recall hearing a few of their tunes on the radio in the old days.....WXRT Chicago. They always had a comedy edge to their songs.

Another artist who had similar leanings.

Tonio K did some brilliant songs but was overlooked because the people would rather listen to pop crap instead of real lyrics.

The early start of the transition from rock and roll in to heavy metal was one that began in many o' garage with microphones and reel tape. Most of it is pretty raw. Here is one band that began all Danish, named Black Rose. The lead singer, which you can hardly hear in this recording, is King Diamond. This was his first band in 1981.

This one of those songs when I hear it, or even THINK of it, I cannot get it out of my head.

GOOD VIBRATIONS
Song by James F. Hanley[sic] Brian Wilson and Mike Love - performed by The Beach Boys

I, I love the colorful clothes she wears
And the way the sunlight plays upon her hair
I hear the sound of a gentle word
On the wind that lifts her perfume through the air

Im pickin up good vibrations
Shes giving me excitations
Im pickin up good vibrations
(oom bop bop good vibrations)
Shes giving me excitations
(oom bop bop excitations)
Good good good good vibrations
(oom bop bop)
Shes giving me excitations
(oom bop bop excitations)
Good good good good vibrations
(oom bop bop)
Shes giving me excitations
(oom bop bop excitations)

Close my eyes
Shes somehow closer now
Softly smile, I know she must be kind
When I look in her eyes
She goes with me to a blossom world

Im pickin up good vibrations
Shes giving me excitations
Im pickin up good vibrations
(oom bop bop good vibrations)
Shes giving me excitations
(oom bop bop excitations)
Good good good good vibrations
(oom bop bop)
Shes giving me excitations
(oom bop bop excitations)
Good good good good vibrations
(oom bop bop)
Shes giving me excitations
(oom bop bop excitations)

(ahhhhhhh)
(ah my my what elation)
I don't know where but she sends me there
(ah my my what a sensation)
(ah my my what elations)
(ah my my what)

Gotta keep those lovin good vibrations
A happenin with her
Gotta keep those lovin good vibrations
A happenin with her
Gotta keep those lovin good vibrations
A happenin

Ahhhhhhhh
Good good good good vibrations
(oom bop bop)
(Im pickin up good vibrations)
Shes giving me excitations
(oom bop bop)
(excitations)
Good good good good vibrations
(oom bop bop)
Shes na na...

Na na na na na
Na na na
Na na na na na
Na na na
Do do do do do
Do do do
Do do do do do
Do do do

Let us be sure that those who come after will say of us in our time, that in our time we did everything that could be done. We finished the race; we kept them free; we kept the faith.

Brian Wilson wrote the music and Mike Love wrote the lyrics.......no James Hanley was involved.

Thanks Wu, my lyrics site must have misattributed this song to Hanley (who does seem to have been a songwriter).

Edited accordingly.

Nice one purr, I only picked up on The Beach Boys in more recent years as my musical tastes have become quite diverse, this song as you mentioned and in my opinion their finest track recorded although boy did they write some crackers!
I`m not a religious person however is this song a message from God!? The vocal, harmonies and arrangements create a quasi-religious experience it literally stops me dead in my tracks everytime I hear it, as you said the hook just stays there.
The American Dream from the Wilson brothers etc , the irony of it all was the tragedy of characters of the band
and what some succumbed to during their lifetime.
Even now when I hear this track it can bring me to tears yet it`s beautiful, sadness to happiness from this stunning song, RIP to all who have passed away in this band, PowerKnight wink

-------
"Beach Boys lead singer Mike Love wrote the lyrics for this song, which he told us were "basically a flowery poem." The song seems to describe a really good acid trip, and while there is nothing specifically in the lyrics about drugs, Love admits that the psychedelic vibe was an influence on his words. Said Love: "It was this flowery power type of thing. Scott MacKenzie wrote "If you're going to San Francisco, be sure to wear a flower in your hair," and there were love-ins and all that kind of thing starting to go on.

So the track, the music of 'Good Vibrations,' was so unique and so psychedelic in itself. Just the instrumental part of it alone was such a departure from what we have done, like 'Surfin' USA' and 'California Girls' and 'I Get Around' and 'Fun, Fun, Fun,' all of which I had a hand in writing. I wanted to do something that captured this feeling of the track and the times, but also could relate to people. Because I thought that the music was such a departure that who knows how well it would relate to Beach Boys fans at that time.

The one thing that I figured is an absolute perennial is the boy/girl relationship, the attraction between a guy and a girl. So I came up with that hook part at the chorus. It didn't exist until I came up with that thought. Which is 'I'm pickin' up good vibrations, she's giving me the excitations.' 'Excitations' may or may not be in Webster's Dictionary, however, it rhymes pretty well with 'good vibrations.' It was kind of a flower power poem to suit the times and complement the really amazingly unique track that Cousin Brian came up with."

Bob Dylan
1964

[One Too Many Mornings]

Down the street the dogs are barkiní
And the day is a-gettiní dark
As the night comes in a-falliní
The dogsíll lose their bark
Aní the silent night will shatter
From the sounds inside my mind
For Iím one too many mornings
And a thousand miles behind

From the crossroads of my doorstep
My eyes they start to fade
As I turn my head back to the room
Where my love and I have laid
Aní I gaze back to the street
The sidewalk and the sign
And Iím one too many mornings
Aní a thousand miles behind

Itís a restless hungry feeling
That donít mean no one no good
When evírything Iím a-sayiní
You can say it just as good.
Youíre right from your side
Iím right from mine
Weíre both just one too many mornings
Aní a thousand miles behind

As a kid growing up, the cat down the street, play the harp, like you would not believe, my girl played the drums, my hands played my Axe,
just another day, until, I relax.
