COOL NEPSTER,
I LISTENED TO A LOT OF REGGAE WHEN I LIVED IN JAMAICA...
MUCH OF THE EARLIER STUFF IS KINDA LIKE U-2 ...PROPHETIC WITH A BIBLICAL CONNECTION...
REGGAE IS A MUSIC WHEREIN THE BASS IS MORE OF THE MELODY...
I FOUND IT FRESH AND NOT A RECYCLING OF THE SAME OLE SAME...LENNON WAS RIGHT I MUST SAY
I THINK THE MORE YOU LISTEN...THE MORE YOU'LL LIKE...STEEL PULSE IS A GOOD START AND...
THIRD WORLD...TRY TO LISTEN TO THE CUT..."STEPPIN OUT"...ONE OF MY FAV'S grin
I DID STUDIO WORK AND HAD A MINOR IN MUSIC THEORY AND COMPOSITION DID THE BAND THING AND WROTE QUITE A BIT...MUSIC IS PART OF MY SOUL!
GLAD I COULD TURN YOU ON MAN grin
ANOTHER STEEL PULSE SONG ..."CATCH A PSALM A DAY"

Thanks for the tips ZETAR, I'll check those out smiley

and now, Ozzy's electric eye shinning bright in the sky... tongue

[Electric Funeral]

Three flecks in the sky warn you you're gonna die
Storm coming, you'd better hide from the atomic tide
Flashes in the sky turns houses into sties
Turns people into clay, radiation minds decay

Robot minds of robot slaves lead them to atomic rage
Plastic flowers, melting sun, fading moon falls upon
Dying world of radiation, victims of man's frustration
Burning globe of obscene fire, like electric funeral pyre

Buildings crashing down to a cracking ground
Rivers turn to wood, ice melts into blood
Earth lies in death bed, clouds cry for the dead
Tearing life away, here's the burning pay

Electric Funeral
Electric Funeral
Electric Funeral
Electric Funeral

And so in the sky shines the electric eye
Supernatural king takes earth under his wing
Heaven's golden chorus sings, Hell's angels flap their wings
Evil souls fall to Hell, ever trapped in burning cells

Crosby, Stills, and Nash smiley

[Wooden Ships]

Stills: If you smile at me I will understand
'Cause that is something
Everybody everywhere does in the same language

Crosby: I can see by your coat, my friend you're from the other side
There's just one thing I got to know
Can you tell me please who won?

Stills: Say can I have some of your purple berries?

Crosby: Yes, I've been eating them
For six or seven weeks now haven't got sick once

Stills: Probably keep us both alive

Wooden ships on the water very free and easy
Easy, you know the way it's supposed to be
Silver people on the shoreline let us be
Talkin' 'bout very free and easy

Horror grips us as we watch you die
All we can do is echo your anguished cries
Stare as all human feelings die
We are leaving, you don't need us

Go take your sister then by the hand
Lead her away from this foreign land
Far away where we might laugh again
We are leaving, you don't need us

And it's a fair wind
Blowin' warm out of the south over my shoulder
Guess I'll set a course and go

I find myself lately unable to listen to any kind of music with lyrics. I crave for something spiritual, otherworldly, celebrating the glory of the universe, and all I find is people singing about their lives and how miserable they are, and what their fleshy cravings are.
Popular and rock music was always extremely un-spiritual in nature.

But I do like instrumental electronic music, like Vangelis and similar

Hi Trilex -

I know what you mean, and at times go through that stage of seeking instrumentals over anything else.

If we are speaking of current music, then I would agree, most of it is pure trash when considering the message being sent. I could even say that for most of the music I listen to as well, however I listen more for the music itself and less the lyric, but there are some significant songs where the lyrics are powerful. I would think there is alot of spirituality in music, but now days, perhaps not... a reflection of society as it plunges into a spiritual dark age. wink

Here are some heavy metal instrumentals you may enjoy to hear... and if you look enough for other songs similar, you may be pleasantly surprised smiley

Metallica Instrumentals:

1983 - Kill 'Em All is the album grin [and whata great album it is!]. This is a Bass solo by Cliff Burton. Burton died while on tour for the Master of Puppets tour in Europe 1986 [car accident]... this whole song is a bass guitar! cool

[Anesthesia- Pulling Teeth]

The song above, runs into the song below, though not an instrumental...

[Whiplash]

1984 - Ride the Lightning - Metallica's 2nd album. This one is a bit more redundant, but an instrumental nonetheless, and nota bad one... I like it anyways smiley

[The Call of Ktulu]

1986 - Master of Puppets - Metallica's 3rd album and arguably their best album overall [but Kill 'Em All comes in close to me as #1]... This is their best instrumental by far. It also shows how the band had matured from 1983 and are now able to better articulate. Hands down one of Metallica's greatest songs below:

[Orion]

1988 - ...And Justice for All - Metallica's 4th album, and 1st without bassist Cliff Burton. They made more albums but they are all cover song-albums, so this was the 1st main album with new bassist Jason Newsted, however, the song below is actually the late Cliff Burton singing, recorded from before he died in '86, they had put most of this song together already... this is considered an instrumental because it is like a 10 minute song with one set of lyrics at the very end:

[To Live is to Die]

Lyrics:
When a man lies he murders some part of the world
These are the pale deaths which men miscall their lives
All this I cannot bear to whiteness any longer
Cannot the Kingdom of Salvation take me home

cool

there are many more similar songs out there by various artists
