Well well drwu23. now your talking my band my guitar player, Leslie West and Mountain are in my top all time guitarist/band of all time.
It doesen`t get much better than this, a first generation HR/HM band, Leslie West is one heavy dirty blues guitarist with a gravel voicebox to go with it.
A real powerhouse virtuoso player, I have almost all the albums and his solo stuff...to die for! The classic line up of West/Pappalardi/Laing/Knight is the stuff of legends and their finest moment Nantucket Sleighride is a masterpiece of the highest order.
Remember Felix Pappalardi, a bass guitar in a shape of a violin...enough said but what a bass player/producer and a great writer to go with it...Mountain forever...all aboard the Nantucket Sleighride, PowerKnight wink

I was lucky enugh to see them in 1970 in Chicago.
And I agree that Nantucket Sleighride is their best lp.

This is one of my all time favorite lp's.....I'm sure you own a copy.

Yes...it`s the actual title track Nantucket Sleighride as well as this album along with many but this track put them in the league with Zeppelin, Purple, Rainbow 75-78 etc.
Still underrated in my opinion and you were lucky to have caught Mountain live at that time, sadly I was born ten years late and missed the explosion that defined this era.
I caught the off-shoots in the late 70s and after, those classic HR/HM bands will never be beat, there have been a few great bands since but don`t quite compare with the earlier bands. PowerKnight wink

How could I leave out Black Sabbath from that list!!! PowerKnight wink

...Remember Felix Pappalardi,..

He was also the fourth musician on the studio tracks of Cream's 'Wheels of Fire' . Jack Bruce, Eric Clapton and Ginger Baker being the other three; but you all knew that.

Great heavy band .....and Powerknight and I also like them. My only complaint is that they only did 2 really good studio lps though West's 'solo' lp Mountain was good as well as West, Bruce, and Laing.

It`s really nice to know there are so many here that love their music no matter what genre, it never lets you down it`s always there to banish the blues...sorry for the pun!
Me think Mountain created more than two decent studio albums that`s my take on it. Trapeze yes Glenn Hughes before Purple and for whatever reason I don`t know that much about them...what a sin!!! Hard rock/metal forever...a former headbanger, in fact it`s a wonder I still have a head left to balance on my body not forgetting the decibel level on my eardrums and the shaking of my brain cells.
Still it was all crazy fun and I enjoyed every minute of it, today it`s a little different but I really like the idea of the mosh pit.
Much more primal and very tribal in a group as opposed to the solitary headbanging stance, Long Live Rock n Roll, Long Live Ronnie James DIO, PowerKnight wink

Hint: think northern Illinois....
