So I was thinking of the line...

Radio plays that forgotten song. Brenda Lee's coming on strong.

Couldn't remember the next line, so I looked it up, and here you all go. One of my favorites!

I've been drivin' all night, my hands are wet on the wheel.
There's a voice in my head that drives my heel.
My baby call said I need you here.
It's half past four and I'm shifting gears.

When she's lonely and the longing gets too much,
She sends a cable coming in from above.
Don't need no phone at all.
We got a thing that's called radar love
We got a wave in the air
Radar love

The radio's playin' some forgotten song.
Brenda Lee's coming on strong.
The road has got me hypnotized,
As I spin into a new sunrise.

When I get lonely and I'm sure I've had enough,
She sends comfort coming in from above.
Don't need no letters at all.
We got a thing that's called radar love
We got a line in the sky
Radar love

No more speed I'm almost there.
Gotta keep cool, now, gotta take care.
Last car to pass, here I go.
The line of cars drove down real slow.
The radio plays that forgotten song.
Brenda Lee's coming on strong.
The news man sang his same song,
One more radar lover gone.

When I'm feeling lonely and I'm sure I've had enough.
She sends the comfort coming in from above.
Don't need no radio at all
We got a thing that's called radar love
We got a light in the sky
We got a thing and its called radar love
We got a thing that's called
Radar love

I've debated this before, but it's my belief that this guy never makes it home, but he will always be there for his baby, in the air.

Sounds more like he got there to find he'd been dumped to me.

BTW: a friend just pointed me to something hilarious at Rolling Stone. Bob Dylan as the seventh best singer of all time? Maybe it's time for somebody to invest in a hearing aid?

Not that I don't like Dylan. Far from it. But I never kidded myself into believing the guy could sing ........... although further checking of that list? Mehhhh grin

You know, I missed this post. Don't think for a second I'm not a purist. I used one of these as my primary stereo until our current place:

But mine is an old Quadrophonic model. Remember that? I never dreamed they would get this pricey! OUCH!

A Space Oddity...very odd with Shatner`s vocal laugh this has been out for a while you can spot Blackers a mile off, lovely guitar solo, not a very good track! Beam me up Scotty, PowerKnight wink

I have Shatner's first one from over 6 years ago but I just found out he had another last year.
I actually liked the first one....it has some very clever lyrics and is not bad musically either.

Tomorrow night (Sat) I'm scheduled to attend The Members 35th anniversary concert at the Garage in Islington, London. This will be 35 years after I went by chance to their very first gig at the Roxy in London, when my friend Chris (who shortly after joined the band on bass guitar and is still with them) asked me if I fancied going. It wasn't bad for their very first gig, even though standard procedure at concerts such as this in those days, was to throw beer over anyone else in range. It's unlikely this will happen at the 35th anniversary gig though - not at 4 quid a pint anyway!

Line-up for the gig as follows:

JC Carroll - guitar
Nigel Bennett - guitar
Nicky Tesco - vocals
Chris Payne - bass guitar
Rat Scabies - drums

Various assorted other musicians will possibly join them on stage at various times. Rat is pretty busy this week because although he's been the regular Members drummer for some time now, he is also playing a gig with his original band, The Damned, this evening. Nigel (ex Members) has flown in from the US where he's been performing with The Vibrators and Nicky (ex Members) has been persuaded to come out of retirement following his hip operation.

Here's a preview of their new album:

And here's a song from the new album, for all those like me who are nearly past it. lipsrsealed

For Powerknight.....
you probably own this.
I think Ritchie has found his 'muse' in more ways than one.

Yes that`s a great track and the moment Ritchie went acoustic with Blackmore`s Night I felt it was the correct direction to take, die hard Purple/Rainbow fans can`t hack it but I love it.
However the whole theme hasn`t quite lived up to it`s full potential and it doesen`t look like it will 15 years on, far to much weak and mediocre material.
That said there has been stunning music including that track, okay Candice might be his wife and Ritchie became a dad again but she is the perfect foil for Blackmore`s Night.
Very animate on stage a vastly improved vocal and excellent lyrics, she looks stunning but she actually has talent, keep those home fires burning brightly Ritchie!
