The Queen will have him. BBC has been fake news for sometime. It happened I think I remember about the time Blair was replacing key people in the BBC... but then.. at that time I was left.. so maybe Blair was putting right conservatives in there to balance out the left bias..
But then what happened since? The BBC is bonkers..
Skye News is still also a bit left wing for its own good as well right now.

Fox all the way!!

You know Milo is right about everything .. in his own disputable way.. Forget the hit job about the 13 yr old, I'm not going to go down that debate hole.

Conservative values aren't what they are in the traditional sense. It's more like libertarian ideals wrapped in capitalism and western culture with national interest at heart for the betterment of the working class and economy with peace as the ultimate ideal but if not we will have to fight and make hard decisions.

That's what the new "conservatism" is. Ask Milo smiley

Intriguing..

Can you point me to some particular example. Preferably concerning himself ?

I was using the word Fake symbolically, not literally.

Brexit, it was fear mongering. Made fun of Nigel Farge in unflattering articles. Unflattering articles now about Trump with grand speculation.

Sad state of affairs, when you have to turn to the Spectator reader comments and Fox news to find reason, truth and sanity anymore..

sigh.

As in 'alternative facts' ...Don't you just love Conway.

But The Man uses the word literally.

Sort of 'non of it's true, it's all fake'...

how would you interpret that ?

I mean 'fake' means not true, made up, fictitious.

Would you not agree ?

..A final word on this subject. I think it is played out.

...I think Hal.. you are picking on me because you can't stomach the way the world really is... that is what I'm thinking...

I'm not picking on you. Was just trying to asses your view on a subject that doesn't really interest me any more.

oh yes.
...Forget the hit job about the 13 yr old,..

Is that hit or head ? hard to read on this screen.

Time to go watch some fake news..

Goodnight. wink

I was watching the CPAC meeting.

Maybe someone can explain the long term consequences of this to me.

It seems, on the face of it, that although the present government are Republicans, there exists within the part this separate grouping that is running in parallel and these are the people who attend CPAC. Brannon was there and so was (Sorry, can't remember his name) .

They also appear to not be on quite the same song sheet as the mainstream Republicans.

Can some one cast some light on this ?

Edit: it was Priebus.

When you posted the above I was closely following CNN's reporting, and actually in the middle of viewing an earlier recording of Trump's Conservative Political Action Conference address, HAL. Would have replied too (in spite of me lacking the insight of a US resident) if only, for no reason I can think of, I hadn't fallen asleep halfway through (requiring me to come back to the CPAC speech later, as my daily schedule allows).

First (my personal perspective/interest) comparing CNN running commentary to the full Trump speech, I felt the commentators seemed hell bent on focusing on parts that made him look bad, and when taken out of context, would confirm a well developed liberal(?)/anti-Trump image of the guy as somehow bad. (Which he might be, or not, that's not the point: this is about checking if they were reporting straight up or strayed into 'fakeness' laugh.)

So I went back and carefully listened to Trump's 'CPAC remarks'. I was surprised about how much sense he made. Coherent, fairly nice, made passable attempts at a (dentists' appointment) smile now and then. He 'loved' the people at CPAC (goes to your question here...), they were his stand-up clapping cheering 'friends'. How to explain this when during campaign days they spurned him for another candidate, presumably because he didn't pass Family Value Muster in 2015.

(I'm sure you figured this out.) Trump wasn't / isn't a good enough Christian based on his life conduct. But he won so he will have to make do (perhaps augmented by the fervent prayers for this imperfect vessel offered by Mike Pence and evangelical Republicans everywhere) to further their vision of America, made into a more RIGHTEOUS land, putting a cap on abortion rights, euthanasia and (if at all possible) various iniquities like full equality for gays and the scourge of transgenders in public bathrooms. Longterm effects assuming Trumps 4-8 year presidency plus the follow through by a more conservative SCOTUS. I'm having a little fun with this, thinking that if folks of this political persuasion (CPAC crowd) tried living in the Netherlands they'd probably jump into a canal.

Simply, it seems the CPAC of today is being pragmatic about who they love and support.

And Trump is cleverly making them use of them in turn. My biggest thought: clever guy.

He is making clever use of them. Don't be persuaded that the old Republican guard can be summed up with the stereotype of fundamental Christian values. It is more than that, it encompasses a whole litany of dinosaur ideologies that up to the present point in time with Trump, made them virtually obsolete. Trump is their savior and only a silverback like gorilla and heavy hammer like Trump can corral them into a more moderate place which will be somewhere between the Dems and the old guard Republicans.

Trump is more democrat if anything than old guard republican.

The trans bathroom problem is a ridiculous situation as well. It was made into a big political issue by the SJW's of the Dems..

Purr,

let's see. Something like the Corbinistas within the Labour party ? No doubt you can think of a Dutch equivalent.

I wasn't so much concerned with what Trump was going on about, but by the apparent difference in direction between the main Republican party and what was being said by the CPAC crowd.

Geert Weilders is one example of a similar politician and party to the new Republican agenda that Trump is espousing.

Granted .. Geert is a lot less subtle about it....
