MOKSHA,

Off course I don't know how it feels to pay American taxes. But I do know how it feels to pay UK taxes.
Particularly the horrible 20% VAT. I understand that You guys are possibly going to get a taste of that.

Whilst the greater proportion of your/our taxes should go on your/our countries, there has to be some spent on other countries and services to help keep the world ticking over.
Or the situation becomes rather like the board game Monopoly. I only played that game once. And it immediately became obvious that the person who owned one particular street couldn't be beaten. Thus, like our financial system, the system is rigged.

The reason I think it was a mistake to elect Trump was, and still is, because he promised you the world. Anyone with two working brain cells can see that all the jobs that were easy manufacturing jobs that anyone could do would be done in some far east country where the labour costs are a fraction of the costs in America. This is because the overall cost of living in these places is also a fraction of what it costs to live in, say, America or the UK.

Western labour cost have been the end of simple industry. If Trump expects these low skill jobs to return to America then he can be assured that they will be done by robots. Not people, automation.
The sort of Job that Young Mike, straight out of grade school and with few if any qualifications can just walk into and start the next day, are over. Very few exist.

And the people who eat at the same trough as Trump and his buddies make their money from investing or producing goods abroad in cheap labour countries and selling them to wealthier countries like the ones we live in.

He has fooled you all.

Don't take my word for it. Watch CNBC. look at the way the markets move.

Listen to the people there who know what is going on because they make their money from predicting what is going to happen.
And they don't see the big boom coming. The also see the 'Trump Bump' starting to fall away as it becomes clear that he himself is not finding things as easy as he expected.
The miners in particular are going to be disappointed. America does not need the coal. Power stations prefer gas. Cleaner and much., much easier to use.
The railways are virtually all Diesel or electric. The chemical industry has all the coal it need from current production.

And so it goes on.

Don't worry about the military action that are hogging the headlines. It is smoke screen. Watch the domestic industrial scene. That is where Trumps promises lay.

It does appear that he is trying to weaken the regulation on home buying. Wasn't it the sub-prime housing market that nearly killed the banks in 2008 ?

The job figures for the quarter indicate that the job market is already at almost full employment. Somewhere about 75%. The quarters new jobs were less that 25% the expected.

Anyway, end of sermon.

I really do hope for the best for America (and everyone else) as there is no future for us all in any other scenario. And 'America First' ? I see his point, but it will lead to isolationism, and will make your pay packet buy much less than it does now.

Trump is used to being the big guy who makes offers people can't refuse. Not any more.

ZETAR,

I didn't mean you have to believe them, I just meant that it gives you a view into what the companies are doing.

I just watch the graphs and, taking into account what is happening in the world, try to predict what will happen next. It's a game for me. But there again, I don't live in America.

The talking heads often get it wrong.

I wondered why Caterpillar wasn't moving as it seemed that their equipment should be in demand. That kind of thing.

But, I did predict (don't know if it was here or on another site) that when Trump was elected there would be a sharp rise in the S&P industrials (SPI), and there was.
I reasoned this would happen based on what Trump was promising, and that many people would take it as a short term thing, and everyone was going to get rich quick. Or at least get a job with better pay.

But I also predicted that the players would let the price shoot up, then take the money and run before the shine wore off it. And they did. Now the SPI is not doing so well. Gradually dropping back to what it was before Trump was elected.

And I can here all you good folk saying 'If your so clever, why are you not rich ?'

Maybe I am.

(No, I'm not rich) grin

After the game is played, the pieces go back into the
BOX, and the board always wins.

"He has fooled you all"
That depends, on if one thinks, ELECTED vs SELECTED.

Yes the show must go on, "FREAK SHOW".
Thanks for the sermon.

Sys,

...SOME 77 days have passed since Britain voted on June 23rd to leave the European Union. Yet this period has been strangely reminiscent of 77 years ago, after Neville Chamberlain declared war on Nazi Germany: ..

We're not in any hurry. We have been around for a long time and have a lot of history with all the countries involved.

It will be fine.
