Republican or Democrat--no matter; liberal or conservative--no matter; atheist or Christian--no matter....

You need to pay heed to these words:

That's why Milo keeps saying "Facts don't care about your feelings".

This particular problem or time is called "post-modernism".

Objectivity and empiricism is depreciated for "relativism".

On the same topic:

https://stream.org/doubt-scientific-consensus/

Science itself is not immune from the foibles of groupthink and politically enforced conformity of thought.

History is filled with examples of established scientific facts later being overturned. I remember in my youth the widespread medical consensus cigarettes were harmless.
The article references the Lysenko debacle from USSR. I see many parallels today in our society.

We've lost all traces of bi-partisanship. And of course, the Democrats blame the Republicans and the Republicans blame the Democrats.

Obama was not as bad of a president as the Republicans say he was, He was not as good of a president as the Democrats say he was. The jury is still out on Trump. I hate his attitude toward science and technology; I feel he has no business using twitter as a main means of communication(but of course I'm just an old man). But he IS shaking up the Washington establishment and it's about time SOMEONE does!

It's not even "Party first, people second", it's "the corporations who bought me first, Party second, people third". The only two things that will fix this are term limits and stringent limits on who can donate how much to each politician.

Do you know that over 2/3 of our representatives and senators list their life-occupation as "politician"? Not at all what our fore-fathers had in mind. Most of these people never held a real job.

Collusion and shady deals are rampant. I think God for "traitors" like Snowden and Assange. These people are heroes in my opinion.

More than ever right now, we NEED politicians who are not "owned" by corporations and wealthy meddlers. To achieve globalization, economically and socially, is a daunting task. Can that be done without sacrificing America? Perhaps, but we need the utmost in integrity, we need open discussion, we need bipartisanship, we need to be able to access every asset we have--science, technology, education, corporate knowledge, et al.

The Republican party is in shambles; the Democratic party becomes more socialist every year. I weep for this country. Every great nation on Earth since the dawn of time has collapsed. It may well be our turn.

I will pray to our Lord and Savior that it's not.

To achieve globalization?

See, that is the real issue, isn't it?

Forget the republicans and the democrats for they are both worthless. I think more and more people recognize these parties as the false right-left stage show that is akin to watching a pro wrestling match.

Reasons [or, reasons that it has become a stage show...] that you stated, Swamp, which I agree with. I also agree with term limits and that the idea of career politicians in America is abominable.

But who says our nation is predestined to achieve globalization? What on earth are you talking about? Where did you get that from?

Good question. I have no belief that the U.S. is "predestined to achieve globalization". I do however believe that globalization will occur, sooner or later, with or without us.

The changes in China just in the last 30 years have been absolutely tremendous. They already produce a huge percentage of what we buy every day. Their standard of living has exploded upwards.

Looming next is South America. They have become restless and eager to join the community! Look for upheavals and revolution in those areas.

Lastly will be Africa. They, too will become hungry (no pun intended) to join the club.

If ego and hatred don't kill us all, (the Middle East, North Korea, Russia, the Donald, the Clintons), this globe WILL become one economy. Otherwise, don't expect to develop faster than light travels, wormhole exploration, time travel, or join any galactic community.

There will still be patriotism, love of country, and competitive markets, but the human race MUST learn how to join hands and live peacefully on this planet. Otherwise, just add homo sapiens to the endangered species list.....

Hi Swamprat

Well, the only predestined global order I have heard about was written about 2,000 years ago, and it can be found in the end section of the Bible.

No matter the good or bad intentions that people may have for the concept of globalization, there will come along a charismatic person who will seize control of this worldly system, and he will make Hitler look like a Care Bear.

So, for me anyways... I look for a better way:

Have you ever considered a new approach to a more connected world?

I am glad you brought up space missions because it is space missions that gave me an alternate view of how things could progress better, as opposed to the disaster we live in now... a global economic and political structure based on false flag ops, subversion of human rights, lies and deceit and secret meeting which decide nation's fates... without the inclusion of the majority of humans.

What about instead of trying to bind everyone to a global tax and international laws [in other words, tyranny]... why don't we look at how scientists were able to get along between the USSR and the USA during the Cold War? We were able to achieve many joint adventures on a scientific level that we were not able to on a political or ideological basis.

If you truly want this common fellowship, then this is how it can be done. It is the only way it can be done. Humans have to begin to spiritually evolve together, and yet the very system to unite us all, divides us all in their mad order out of chaos, divide and conquer schemes. Nothing good is going to come from evil methods. Can't you see this, man? If you find what I have just said confusing it is likely not a lack of your understanding, but rather a lack of my ability to explain what I'm trying to say, so I apologize ahead of time... I can't seem to find the right words... yet smiley

Cosmicjbw,

Does the name Bruno Pontecorvo mean anything to you ?

It may help explain why ...

... why don't we look at how scientists were able to get along between the USSR and the USA during the Cold War? We were able to achieve many joint adventures on a scientific level that we were not able to on a political or ideological basis....

isn't going to work.

Hello HAL

I did not know of that man before you had mentioned him. I have just read a quick skim read of his bio and it seems he lived an interesting life during a time of great upheavals in the world.

I am very glad you brought this man up though because he is a very good example of study, concerning how science and knowledge come into conflict with military applications, politics and economics.

If only there were a way to create a place where great thinkers could go, and if they were given authority to become an autonomous entity... kinda like the Vatican City governs themselves within Italy, then they could be freed up to focus on science, and not the politics of the world. This could help make scientists less likely to get engulfed into political movements.

Hey, no matter what any of us come up with, nothing will ever be perfect 100% tongue
