Hallelujah! Do I detect a glimmer of hope?!

Imams Refuse to Perform Funeral Rites

...more than 130 Muslim religious leaders were refusing to say funeral prayers for any members of the ISIS cell.

The decision by the Muslim leaders was seen as an "unprecedented" move because the funeral ritual is typically performed on a deceased Muslim no matter the person's past actions. The group of religious leaders have urged others to join them in declining to pray for the dead killers.

“We, as Muslim imams and religious leaders, condemn the recent terror attacks in Manchester and London in the strongest terms possible,” the Muslim leaders said in a statement. “Coming from a range of backgrounds, and from across the U.K.; feeling the pain the rest of the nation feels, we have come together to express our shock and utter disgust at these cold-blooded murders. We are deeply hurt that a spate of terror attacks have been committed in our country once more by murderers who seek to gain religious legitimacy for their actions. We seek to clarify that their reprehensible actions have neither legitimacy nor our sympathy.”

Mak Chishty, the Metropolitan police commander of engagement, said, according to The Guardian, that it is time for Muslims to “counter the scourge of terrorism, extremism and hatred that we have in our communities at present.”

Chishty, the highest-ranking officer in the department of Muslim faith, said, “It is the Islamic duty of every Muslim to be loyal to the country in which they live. We are now asking questions to understand how extremism and hatred has taken hold within some elements of our own communities.”

Perhaps the item below will help him to see the fallacy of the safety in carrying arms.

....All shootings: Some 13,286 people were killed in the US by firearms in 2015, according to the Gun Violence Archive, and 26,819 people were injured [those figures exclude suicide]. Those figures are likely to rise by several hundred, once incidents in the final week of the year are counted.

Source: Gun Violence Archive

How the US compares: The number of gun murders per capita in the US in 2012 - the most recent year for comparable statistics - was nearly 30 times that in the UK, at 2.9 per 100,000 compared with just 0.1.

Of all the murders in the US in 2012, 60% were by firearm compared with 31% in Canada, 18.2% in Australia, and just 10% in the UK.

Source: UNODC.

The home front: So many people die annually from gunfire in the US that the death toll between 1968 and 2011 eclipses all wars ever fought by the country. According to research by Politifact, there were about 1.4 million firearm deaths in that period, compared with 1.2 million US deaths in every conflict from the War of Independence to Iraq.

Source: Politifact.

Gun violence and terrorism: The US spends more than a trillion dollars per year defending itself against terrorism, which kills a tiny fraction of the number of people killed by ordinary gun crime.

According to figures from the US Department of Justice and the Council on Foreign Affairs, 11,385 people died on average annually in firearm incidents in the US between 2001 and 2011.

In the same period, an average of 517 people were killed annually in terror-related incidents. Removing 2001, when 9/11 occurred, from the calculation produces an annual average of just 31....

There really is nothing to add to that.

If you can't see what the figures tell you then there really is no hope for you.

Swamp,

Is the KKK a proscribed organisation. I.e is it illegal to be a member of it ?

If not, why not, taking it's past into consideration.

As usual it's apples and oranges. The percentages of population are not taken into consideration. Cities in our country have larger populations that the countries your concerned with here!

Those statistics don't take into consideration the legal owners of firearms, only those used in crime!
2-6 million times a year in this country, firearms used by legal carrying citizens STOP criminal acts. Those stats are never published by the LAMESTREAM MEDIA!

If you only take the negative like you seem to do you have no concept of what is true in the firearm debate!

Here's just one:

Armed Oklahoma Man Saves Neighbor Children

by Mark Chesnut, Editor - Tuesday, June 6, 2017

Gun-ban advocates like to say that if their new restrictive laws could save “even one life,” then the resulting loss of freedom would be “worth it.”

After a vicious attack on children in Oklahoma on Friday, I’ll see their one life, and raise them another.

Thanks to the fact that gun-ban advocates haven’t yet been able to accomplish their end game—outlawing armed self-defense as protected by the Second Amendment—two Ada, Okla., babies are alive today who likely would not be otherwise.

According to The Ada News, a local man saved the life of two neighbor children, and likely their mother as well, on Friday. The story is not a pretty one, although in the end good triumphed over evil, and the two babies were shaken up, but still alive.

Left with little recourse, Freeman shot the crazed attacker twice, killing him and saving both babies and their mother.Media reports indicate that 27-year-old Leland Foster forced his way into the home and tried to kill his own 3-month-old twins. The local 911 service received a call from the mother of the twins saying that she and the babies were being attacked by the suspect, who was armed with a knife.

In the meantime, a 12-year-old girl fled the home and ran next door seeking help from the neighbor, Cash Freeman. He grabbed his revolver, ran to the home and, hearing a woman screaming and sounds of a struggle coming from inside, charged into the melee.

What he found there is the stuff of nightmares. Foster was holding the twins underwater trying to drown them in the bathtub, while also threatening their mother with a knife. Left with little recourse, Freeman shot the crazed attacker twice, killing him and saving both babies and their mother.

Turns out that the attacker had “prior criminal charges for arson and domestic abuse by strangulation.” Both twins were treated at an Oklahoma City hospital and released the next day.

The entire episode is one you won’t see much about in so-called “mainstream” media, nor will Shannon Watts be tweeting about how a good guy with a gun saved two young lives. But the fact remains, had not the neighbor been armed and willing to help, both babies, along with their mother, likely would be dead.

A few more:

For many people, Memorial Day weekend marks the unofficial beginning of summer. But wise armed citizens know two things for certain: First, that neither criminals nor our rights take a holiday—and secondly that sometimes the judicious use of the latter can thwart the former without a single press of the trigger. Here are five accounts of armed citizens who defended themselves without firing a single shot just last summer.

An armed man entered the convenience store at the Obama gas station in Richland County, S.C., and attempted to rob the store. The clerk on duty responded to the threat by retrieving a gun. Upon meeting armed resistance, the armed robber fled the scene. The gas station was renamed after the 44th president of the United States in 2011. (WIS, Columbia, S.C., 08/29/16)

While it’s fairly well known that you shouldn’t bring a knife to a gun fight, a criminal in Knoxville, Tenn., recently learned the lesson firsthand. Officers are now searching for a man who tried to rob a store with a knife, and who was quickly dispatched by an employee carrying a firearm. Knox County sheriff’s deputies told ABC affiliate WATE that the suspect entered Danny’s Market earlier this week, approached a customer at the counter, then held a knife to her throat while telling the store clerk to hand over money. Instead, the employee pulled out his handgun. At that point, the suspect backed out of the store using the customer as a shield before taking off on foot. A bystander gave chase, but eventually lost track of the criminal, who eyewitnesses described as a white male in his late 20s or early 30s with a stocky build, and who kept his face covered throughout the robbery attempt. (WATE, Knoxville, Tenn., 08/29/16)

A man and woman were asleep at home in Sevier County, Tenn., when they were awakened by the sound of someone kicking in their door. The male resident retrieved a gun, confronted the home invader, and was able to hold the intruder at gunpoint until police could arrive. The home invader faces a litany of charges, including drug possession and gun possession during a violent felony. (WATE, Knoxville, Tenn., 08/23/16)

Two sisters, ages 12 and 13, were by themselves in their home in Snow Camp, N.C., when three men approached the house and knocked on the door. The older sister did not recognize the men, prompting her to retrieve her father’s rifle. Eventually, the men went to the back of the home and broke in through another door. Once the men were inside, the armed teen leveled the rifle at them. Upon meeting armed resistance, the home invaders fled. Following the incident, a neighbor praised the girl for her actions, telling a reporter, “To have had that kind of thoughtfulness going on in a time of crisis in her head to where that's what she did, instead of running and hiding. She probably stopped something major from going on.” (WFMY, Greensboro, N.C., 07/24/16)

A realtor was going into a home in Jonesboro, Ark., that she had shown several times when she happened upon three intruders, one of whom was passed out on a bed. The realtor responded to the threat by drawing a gun and holding one of the intruders at gunpoint until police could arrive. The other two criminals fled the scene. When police arrived and arrested the formerly passed-out intruder, he became aggressive, threatening to kill one of the officers. (KAIT, Jonesboro, Ark., 07/18/16)

A grandmother was at home alone in Boynton Beach, Fla., when a man began banging on her door. The grandmother responded by retreating to a bedroom and arming herself with a handgun. Eventually the man and two accomplices broke through the door and entered the home. However, upon seeing the armed grandmother the home invaders fled. Following the incident, the grandmother told a local news outlet, in relation to having the handgun, “I think it's wonderful. I think it's the only thing that saved me. It was my Godsend. I don't know what I would've done without it. I've never experienced anything like that before in my life. It was horrible, to have three strangers in your house and ransacking it. I was very angry. It's like, how dare you do this! You know, this is our home.” (WPEC, West Palm Beach, Fla., 06/29/16)

The First Amendment to the US Constitution provides for freedom of speech and assembly. These rights are construed to include freedom of association.

When the KKK engages in intimidation by cross-burning and other crimes (including conspiring to commit crimes) those acts are illegal, but the "mere" act of associating with other KKK members is not illegal.

Mere association, unless you're on parole and prohibited from associating with other felons, is not illegal in the US. The First Amendment guarantees the right to peaceably assemble and prohibits laws abridging the free exercise of religion, speech, and press. Assembly for the purpose of committing illegal acts can be illegal and may fall afoul of various statutes, including riot and rout, extortion, or conspiracy, depending on the circumstances.

Swamp,

Thanks for the info.

It appears that one could arrange a meeting of all American citizens who have fought for isis some place in the 'States and as long as you don't actually do anything or are found to be arranging to do anything then there would be no consequences.

A sort of 'isis old boys' get together.

Lone,

Once again you are not reading the text.

The difference in population sizes is clearly point out.

A few grannies scaring off a burglar or two does not help the thousands that have been killed,

The sources are shown.

No point in discussing this further. It always ends the same.

'can't remember who it was who said that doing the same thing repeatedly and expecting different results is an exercise in futility.

X2.

There are an estimated 300 million privately owned firearms in the U.S. in 140 million households. I do not have the similar figures for other countries, but if you were to repost the numbers above in percentages of ownership you would lead to a different interpretation.
