The closest sighting I can find to my Jan 7, 1997 incident. Of course the first 20 or so days were real heavy from the above date forward in my home. January 27, 1997 was the creme de' la creme. Long story and real ugly.

Occurred : 1/15/1997 15:00 (Entered as : 8/99 15:00)
Reported: 1/16/2002 6:43:07 PM 18:43
Posted: 3/11/2003
Location: Pico Rivera/Paramount, CA
Shape: Oval
Duration:10-15 mins
during the day, the amount of them and what the saucers were doing

My son and I (along with people in this shopping center that worked there) witnessed maybe about 15 - 20 saucers out here in So.Calif. in the City of Paramount 4 yrs. ago. We came home and I called some TV stations and they wouldn't even think about listening to what we had to say about what we had encountered! I was in this stereo store while my son was outside talking to some of the people that worked there. (My son was about 19 or 20 yrs of age at this time.) He had called me out to look at what was in the sky to the East, sure enough they were flying saucers! All of us were amazed!!. Other people from the shops there saw us outside looking up in the sky so they came out also and looked above and saw the samething. Wish I had a camera! These flying saucers where flying in and out of the clouds, staying for like a few seconds and fly out like they were taking turns. They must have been doing this for maybe a good 5 or 10 mins. They were silver and not quite cigar shape, but pretty close to it, but with a dome ontop. That day was a clear day, blue, but white clouds scattered. We don't get many clear days like that here, so it must have been either after it rained, (cause that's the way our days will look after it's rained) or a day after we've had our Santa Ana winds kick up. So, it sure wasn't smoggy that day. Anyway, thought I'd share our experience. It'll be one that I can always share with someone and say I witnessed an opportunity that many will not have. ((name and e-address deleted))

((FOLLOW-UP COMMUNICATION))

Peter Davenport;

Hi there. Read your email and I didn't think I'd have the receipt for the car stereo, but I found it. It doesn't say what time of day of that sighting that we all saw, but it does give a date which was Jan. 15, 1997. The city I thought we were in was not Paramount, it was Pico Rivera which is next-door
to that city. I was having my stereo installed in my car that day, my son bought the stereo for me for Christmas. Also, it was before 5 PM cause I remember calling the TV stations after I got home and it was almost dark. From Pico Rivera it takes me about 30 - 45 mins to come home depending on
traffic and there were no other stops I remember I made coming home and this was not in the morning and this happened before dark, but after 12 PM.

I did submit to your site on this experience prior to receiving your email and not looking for this receipt, however one correction: It was not in Paramount as I wrote on this form. I will write your tel# down if I ever happen to view a sighting again. Thank You for that! Thanks for emailing me. ((name deleted))

((NUFORC Note: We have amended the date and place of the sighting, based on the follow-up communication. PD))

I downloaded it and It really creeped me out the first time I heard it. Anyone would just say it was a prank call, but how do you explain them being knocked off the air?

Yeah, pretty creepy. I highly doubt this is a hoax, just listen to the sincerity in his voice! If this recording was a hoax, then this man is one good actor.

Im not sure if many of you know but there is a song by Tool from their Laterlaus Album.

The song is titled "Faaip de Oiad" (The Voice of God) (I think?)

The song consists of a the recording with some creepy Tool music. Its pretty cool.

I just got a "cannot find website" prompt on the Art Bell thing. Oh well. I'll catch it someday, somehow.

Oh my, that was weird. What is weirder yet is the date I see below. I won't go there, it looks like a spoof, but the guy (voice) was good and made it sound real.

September 11, 1997

On September 11, 1997, Bell opened a special line for callers who claimed to have been employed at US airbase Area 51. (Bell had done such themed shows occasionally, seeking calls from purported time travelers or from the antichrist.)

One caller, an apparently distressed male, said he had been an Area 51 worker, but had been released for "medical" reasons, and was being pursued by unnamed persons. He reported that plans were underway for wide scale destruction, by sinister forces who "want those major population centers wiped out." The caller was interrupted, and Bell's program went off air. There was a brief period of dead air before Bell's network rebroadcast a portion of a previous interview with Mark Fuhrman for about 30 minutes until the technical problems were resolved.

When Bell came back on the air, he reported that the caller had screamed in what Bell took to be genuine terror or fright, before the line was disconnected. This scream was not broadcast to listeners, as it apparently occurred after the disconnect.

The interruption of Bell's program gained some mainstream attention, and some concluded it was a publicity stunt, especially since that evening a writer for Penthouse magazine was in Bell's home studio, interviewing the broadcaster.

However, some have argued there were puzzling aspects to the incident, saying a problem with a communications satellite was the source of Bell's temporary outage. An unsourced account of the event was reported that "(according to GE engineers) the satellite's 'Earth sensor lost lock' and the craft rolled into an attitude where it no longer pointed at the uplinks, causing 50 channels to go off-air for about 30 minutes," and that Bell's program was not the only one affected by the purported satellite problem.

One caller claiming to live near Area 51 is documented as saying damage to his home was similar to that caused by an electromagnetic pulse at about the time Bell's broadcast stopped, and a man who claimed to work as an engineer for Hughes Aerospace in Tucson, Arizona reported a similar effect.

Rock band Tool incorporated portions of the distraught Area 51 caller's voice on their album Lateralus.

The caller said;
"I, I don't have a whole lot of time. Um, OK, I'm a former employee of Area 51. I, I was let go on a medical discharge about a week ago and, and... [chokes] I've kind of been running across the country. Damn, I don't know where to start, they're, they're gonna, um, they'll triangulate on this position really soon.

OK, um, um, OK, what we're thinking of as, as aliens, they're extradimensional beings, that, an earlier precursor of the, um, space program they made contact with. They are not what they claim to be. Uh, they've infiltrated a, a lot of aspects of, of, of the military establishment, particularly the Area 51.

The disasters that are coming, they, the military, I'm sorry, the government knows about them. And there's a lot of safe areas in this world that they could begin moving the population to now. They are not! They want those major population centers wiped out so that the few that are left will be more easily controllable."

Yeah I know, I saw the date and thought that was weird. I just wish in this conversation you could find out what his next line was going to be, since he got got off mid sentence. Better yet, if this was indeed real (not a hoax) I wonder what happend to the guy?

The man who called Art Bell did so in 1997, which was a pretty heavy time for UFO's and aliens in respect to ufologists and other researchers. Below is the UFO Casebooks contribution to Area 51.

Amalgamut, have you had time to check out the UFO Casebook website yet.

Well, I just listened to it and that was really freaky. In the conversation the man sounds as though he believes what he is saying, but right before cut off, I kind of thought I heard the beginning of a laugh that he was no longer able to contain. But that is just a guess. I remember on UFO Files once on the History Channel they were talking about some people who claimed to be employees of area 51. They had all been exposed tosomething and were very sick. I think the last I had heard two of them died. Don't know how many there were that were represented in the lawsuit. Of course the lawsuit was not going well, because the govt. kept denying existnece of such a place and saying the people were not exposed to anything. Can't remember the names, but I wonder what ever happened with that. I am not sure whether to believe the caller was high, or mentally ill at the time, or whether he was real.
But it is something interesting to hear.

That was the toxic lawsuit and it is mentioned in the website just above your post from UFO Casebook Area 51.

Yeah, more than likey (if this phone call was true) the man was involved in the same type of toxins, maybe?

In any case, this man seems to have been followed in every move he made. If indeed it wasn't a hoax.
