I'm thinking of scheduling a camping/mountain biking trip to Big Basin next May. Who's with me?

I think they had only at that point taken 12 pics THAT DAY. My digicam arranges it's pics by date so each days pics will have it's own numbering sequence beginning with PICT0001 in a folder named by date. So maybe they did have an almost full memory card (with a thousand pics) but had only taken 12 pics so far that day. That is most likely what happened.

BTW, what is wrong with this confounded conforums website? Are they running it on a Radio Shack Trash80 ?

You are probably right, Latitude smiley

There is a "Standard Folder" and a "Date Folder"

I know, I know....its just so...frustrating. Finally (if you believe Isaac) something concrete and the very people who have been screaming "BELIEVE!" for years won't even take an honest look at it...cause they don't like LMH. How frigging petty can you get?

When all is said and done, my guess is we will all have gained a Summer of excitement from the drones and Isaac, but we will likely never know if it was a hoax or real. That is something for us individually to decide. As the story gets older, it will pass into that category that defines most sightings and phenomena:

"WHO KNOWS"?

I have resigned myself to the probability that we will hear no more from Isaac, the drone photographers or the serious ufologists. We will just keep chewing this cud for the rest of our days. Damn tragedy it is, too.

Summed up quite well. But even if we hear no more from those witnesses I think it quite likely there will be more in the future. How does next May sound?

May sounds good! I hope I am clear that my belief is not shaken, due to my own experiences. BUT I am woefully disappointed in the community beyond this forum for ignoring or dismissing the drones as not even worthy of their [public] notice. If we are encouraged to come forward and seek the truth, then why do these folks so cavalierly ignore us!

Isaac's silence and the inability or unwillingness of LMH and others to come forward with ALL they have is, well, frustrating to say the least!!

I also think it boils down to fear of being wrong too. Maybe MUFON was afraid to go out on a limb with this one. And others followed suit.

MUFON and others have words of steel but feet of clay. Science and investigation should not fear mistakes. If you will pardon my saying so, UFOLOGY is so "out there" for the PTB, that I doubt anyone really cares if a respected scientist or ufologist turns out to be wrong about something. Even when they are right, they are dismissed. Science and knowledge should not fear. Shame on them all!

I think we will have more sightings. The same technology that decloaked them once can make it happen again!
Whether Isaac sends any more stuff or not.

Here's the silver lining IMHO - the number of members here has risen sharply - all the Spring "newbies" are now veterans! The more people that come out of the closet as either "believers" or "hopefulls" the more other people will be encouraged to do the same. This is the way we gain momentum until someday (I think sooner rather than later) the scales will tip. The unbelievers and scoffers will be in the minority. I believe that there really is power in numbers. The very worst thing that we can do is lose interest simply because the drones - the hook that got so many people interested - seem to be on hiatus. We need to keep moving forward, watching for signs and, most importantly, nurturing these wonderful new friendships we've made over these past several weeks.

It's about more than just the drones, or the Haitian fiasco, or this hoax or that one, it's about believing that there is much more to this universe than what meets the eye. It's about continuing to hope for contact with something that will unite us with the cosmos, and in so doing help us to realize that we are part of something greater. Has anyone looked at the photos from the Hubble telescope and not been absolutely awestruck? Imagine being able to include such wonders in your every day life, imagine that this is even possible.

There's a saying, "When the student is ready, the teacher will appear." Ultimately, contact is not up to any government or group of individuals. It's not reserved for the military, intellectuals, clerics, or other special people. Contact will be made when those who are ready to accept it make themselves known.

You are very wise, MarkM. It is true that none of the naysayers matter. In the end, the phenomenon is beyond the scoffing, debunking, and disinformation of all those who fear the truth. Whatever motivates their agenda, it cannot stand the test-- or block the march --of time.

We have UFO sightings every single day all over the world but these things have never brought disclosure. The only thing to come near disclosure in regard to a sighting would be something about the same as O'Hare Field - but with pictures this time for the media to run with. If O'Hare had photos to go along with the story based on the number of witnesses that there were, you would have gotten your disclosure.

When ET is ready, that's simply all they have to do. Then they'll sit back and watch reaction for a while and then take it from there.

IMO, I don't think that ET cares too much about disclosure. They seem happy enough just going about their own business. Disclosure won't stop them from doing what they want to do.

Xeroid, two questions.

1. Is it possible to take a photo, edit the photo (add something to it) and to leave the EXIF data intact and unchanged?

2. To add EXIF data to a Jpeg that did not have it?

Quote from POTN forums regarding EXIF data editing:

EXIFTools, I believe allows you to modify the data contained in the image file. If all data were intact, such as maker notes, etc, that would be much more difficult to falsify. (Though, EXIF data could be transferred from one image to the next...which again makes it trivial to falsify exif data) What would make me feel a bit more warm and fuzzy is a pic from a 20D with the forensic package.

Reply from another member re last post:

It's not technically hard to edit EXIF data.

But I would suggest that it is moderately difficult to create a complete set of EXIF data which stands up to scrutiny alongside the shots:
Is the shutter speed consistent with the motion blur and camera shake in the photo?
Is the aperture consistent with the DOF in the photo?
Is the focal length consistent with the perspective in the photo?
Is the exposure mode used consistent with the correctness of the exposure in the photo, given the subject nature?
Is the date and time consistent with the weather and the angle of the sun in the photo?
...and so on.

Tricky - but, of course, not impossible.
