Hey, just consider this a brief intemission while we wait for more info.. I'm just throwing this out at great personal risk of embarassment.. embarassed cheesy

But I did think it was interesting and droneteam are asking how to draw Isaac out. And that is what inspired me to take up the ol book... and that's what came out of it. And to not share that seemed sillier than sharing it.. on second thought... lipsrsealed embarassed

what information are we waiting for exactly?? Your buddies at the DRT to try to figure out a way to spin finding a real pole into some sort of evidence that a drone was there! Lets face facts my dear gullible lady...if that drone had been hovering over that street lamp your pro Pis would by now have Raj's inlaws statements and we would have heard from a credible witness!

Heh, heh, Tomi you’re the same as the rest of us in that you love talking ‘Drone’ and this is the chosen forced venue at present. wink

I can’t speak for anyone else but I was just having a little fun with you.

Remember that concept?

Just it seems that ‘fun’ is infinitely more alien at present than anything Isaac penned.

This is starting to get expensive, because the Admiral can sure put away the Scotch. He won't have the cheap stuff, either. Anyway, I asked him if he could locate another vessel for me, in this case the DRT Exit Strategy, and he has come through again!

Jeddyhi: I suppose I can see where you get 5 shapes, but to me a rectangle's a rectangle. Sure, it's shorter here, or longer there, but it's still a rectangle. I personally might go so far as to say the font's comprised of only 2 shapes - A scythe and a rectangle. But I'm a simple guy...

Radi: I've seen that comparison with the Chanticleer font. I suppose it's possible there's a connection, but it only took me something like 30 seconds to draw a scythe and a rectangle, and then maybe ten minutes to flip, rotate, and manipulate them into a complete alphabet. No need for a source font at all.

DrDil: re: repetition - Good eyes! I haven't gotten that far into the LAP to notice all that yet. You just made my job easier!

Something I didn't notice until last night - and I don't know why it hadn't occurred to me earlier to count them - is how many "letters" there are in the "alien" alphabet. Has anyone else bothered to count them?
Unless I missed one, there's 26.
Convenient, huh?

Something else I found:
I apologize if this has already been discovered, hashed, and rehashed.

Some phrases with double characters. Again, this seems terribly inefficient to me for an "advanced alien language". Why not a single character to represent the two together? Like the Cyrillic "Y", which we in English write as "oo". Or something similar to the little "2" mathematicians and chemists use to denote repetition?

I'm not a linguist, but this strikes me as very "English".

What do you guys (and gals) think?

Alienware seemed to have done okay transposing English..And some from a distance even looked like words like steal, and AW, and AH ..a highly inefficient way of doing that..but they did it anyway. I had put this up earlier and then took it down, but since you are talking about repeated patterns, i figure what the hecck..perhaps they are read left to right, but if they are using english equivalence, then it would not be like the chinese.. They are using mathematical constants that would be recognizable to aliens or humans..like golden triangles, pi, and how a circle is divided ..the use of those cute sine waves reminds me of he use of radians and not they look just as copied as those bar codes..It is a puzzle meant to be solved like in a game..

you might say it is astronomy related..as theose penciled numbers did correspond to orion and sirius and I believe lyra also..

and why that obvious , To me, armillory was used.
to point us into that direction.
you can read vertically and from left to right in these astronomy logs.. some letters even look similar.
what do you think Albatross..

Pattern repititions can be tricky. Like asking someone to guess the pattern of a coin tossed 100 times. The predictions vs. real are usually recognized because people tend not to group very high repeated results i.e., 5 or more heads or tails in a row.
If I was doing this type hoax, I'd consider using a random number generator for the letter placements or better yet randomize the individual segments. I'd bet that I'd end up changing some of them because they actually would not look random to me!

All very interesting. I don't think there will be a solution to some of these questions or observations unless the ones who did it explain their thinking. (if it's even that deep) Otherwise, it's like trying to get into the head of someone. I would not be surprised if it's nothing more then someone just picking and moving things around until they looked somewhat pleasing and unique.

you are quite correct..Katt..combinatorial expressions can be boggling..if you have 26 letters..thats 1x2x3x4x5x6.... 26!
big odds on a roll of dice.

But I believe he wanted it to be solved..we had one fella that was scared away as Isaac, and he kept pointing out to read it a certain way, or that particular marked out areas could be read..came out with that elfiss thing which lead to a poker playing group.
but true Katt no sure thing..it may have been contingent on future clues or clues placed elsewhere the way halo and scc, lost , and others did with their codes but never got around to it. I wonder if Tomis urge to bet and chance are related to that..
I do know what she meant.
The question is why is that Isaaccaret site still up..so the game is not yet over.

I think you're missing my meaning.

I'm not talking about seeing combinations of characters that look like english words. As in "Hey! I see the word 'ELVIS'"!
I'm talking about words or phrases with double characters, side by side, like "Meet", or "Street", or "Food", or "Tooth".

I'm sure that letter-doubling happens in other languages, but it's especially prevalent in the English language. Other languages, as I pointed out previously with the Cyrillic reference, have single letters for these phonetic sounds, or simple embellishments to the single letter to change it's tone.

I'm postulating that the creator of the LAP was/is an English speaker, and couldn't resist the urge to drop in hints alluding to this. Perhaps include his/her name in the design somewhere. "Sign it", if you will. I know I would have.

I don't see anything in the phrases I hilighted other than THREE sets of double letters that stick out like a sore thumb. And so far I've found no other instances of double letters elsewhere on the LAP. Hence my surmise that this may be a signature of sorts.
