Chameleo by Robert Guffey

A strange but true story of invisible spies, heroin addiction, and Homeland Security

A mesmerizing mix of Charles Bukowski, Hunter S. Thompson, and Philip K. Dick, Chameleo is a true account of what happened in a seedy Southern California town when an enthusiastic and unrepentant heroin addict named Dion Fuller sheltered a U.S. Marine who’d stolen night vision goggles and perhaps a few top secret files from a nearby military base.

Dion found himself arrested (under the ostensible auspices of The Patriot Act) for conspiring with international terrorists to smuggle Top Secret military equipment out of Camp Pendleton. The fact that Dion had absolutely nothing to do with international terrorists, smuggling, Top Secret military equipment, or Camp Pendleton didn’t seem to bother the military. He was released from jail after a six-day-long Abu-Ghraib-style interrogation. Subsequently, he believed himself under intense government scrutiny — and, he suspected, the subject of bizarre experimentation involving “cloaking”— electro-optical camouflage so extreme it renders observers practically invisible from a distance of some meters — by the Department of Homeland Security. Hallucination? Perhaps — except Robert Guffey, an English teacher and Dion’s friend, tracked down and interviewed one of the scientists behind the project codenamed “Chameleo,” experimental technology which appears to have been stolen by the U.S. Department of Defense and deployed on American soil. More shocking still, Guffey discovered that the DoD has been experimenting with its newest technologies on a number of American citizens.

A condensed version of this story was the cover feature of Fortean Times Magazine (September 2013).

Publication April 23, 2015 • 282 pages
Paperback ISBN 978-1-939293-69-5 • E-book 978-1-939293-70-1

The book arrived promptly and I'm finding it a page turner. Guffey tells the story in an entertaining manner, yet the underlying dread of the situation is definitely not lost. He and Dion became mixed up with the Naval Criminal Investigative Service (NCIS). That's the same goons I blogged about in July who explored hypnosis as an interrogation tool on Petty Officer Daniel King, a young cryptanalyst accused of spying in 1999, yet released without formal charges after he was hammered for two years.

There are some really interesting aspects of the Dion and Guffey saga, including very strong implications that some Southern California towns served as a lab for unethical human experimentation. Further complicating the circumstances was a thriving black market for trafficking contraband. It's easy to interpret shades of the Lash case in between the lines of Guffey's narration, and suffice it to say concerns about NCIS would have me sleeping with the lights on long before tales of the alleged greys at this point. It becomes increasingly apparent that it's a rather moot point whether the victims of such programs as Guffey explores were either correct in their suspicions of bizarre events happening to them or driven to madness because, either way, the responsibility apparently lies at the feet of NCIS and company.

This could well be the first documented Resurrection of Jeffrey Lash Messiah From Mars
We all read that he was at the coroners before the Chief went on vacation before he could answer questions
So I recanvassed the files today..11/21 from july 3 all the way to July 21..and like a scene from the tomb of Jesus; Hes Gone! ..desapercido! nada..
Here is a sampling after I tried even variations on spelling...so..I just yanked all the bodies per diem , the whole kit and caboodle..

User ImageUser ImageUser Image

I emailed a query to the LA coroners office

Hi
I have canvassed your intake deceased files from Jul 3 to july 21 2015 for a deceased person Jeffery or Jeffrey Lash . It does not appear. The reported date of death was July 4, 2015
Have you had such a person under that name in your custody at any time during this period? The name may have been changed because he also went under various aliases and so I would understand if the initial name no longer appeared. If this is the case may I have the case number with the correct name and final disposition?
Thanking you in advance for your time and appreciating
the difficult work you do

And then there is this:

http://ktla.com/2015/08/27/identity-of-mystery-man-with-palisades-weapons-cache-revealed-as-new-secrets-surface/
For weeks, the coroner's office said that the decomposing body's identity had not be determined.

Then, on Aug. 12, investigators were able to confirm that the body was that of Jeffrey Alan Lash, 60, according to Lt. Elissa Fleak of the Los Angeles County Department of Medical Examiner-Coroner. An autopsy was completed July 21, but Fleak said the cause of Lash's death remained deferred -- meaning it has not yet been identified.

Sys, such an interesting case and no one seems interested - except us. Why is that? It is what "they" wanted all along. Wonder why "they" bothered to even get JAL in the news. DMVB still among the missing. None of it makes any sense.

You know the story of Eric Robert Rudolph? The Centennial Bomber. Hid from the FBI for five years. I really believed I would drop dead before he was found and the mystery of his disappearance never solved. Alas I was wrong. He was finally found dumpster diving by a local rookie cop. And is now incarcerated at supermax prison for life.

Here's to hoping there is some finality to the JAL case one day. Who knows maybe JAL was never in that car? Maybe the deceased is someone else entirely?

You sure about that co-ink-a-dink? Oh that's right, she wasn't really married to Curry. Peculiar to say the VERY least.

And you know I will be lurking here. Will KUP!

Thanx Noel they never answered my request..

The date of death is not unusual...
The legal time of death may be a long time after the death actually occurred. Many accident victims are obviously dead at the scene of the accident but are pronounced dead officially on arrival at a hospital because no physician was at the scene. When homicide is suspected or in large cities where the police handle large numbers of accidental deaths, a medical examiner may be on call to pronounce death at the scene and to determine the cause of death

that said to be unable to determine the ethnicity, black or white I found quite peculiar when we have all been shown a caucasian and
since other cases involving decomposition do.. as odd as Dr Gorin the dentist who would be normally expected to be a rational person, would have reported something..He is not an alien believer and great effort was put in initially to hide his identity, while at same time providing I assume medical records to the coroners..

Its not difficult to get a cadaver from a medical school for use in faking a death for an important witness..
