I know ? My only comment would be that the series is for a new audience. Trust no one!

Okay, Iím trying to remember the episode, but I canít give you an exact number. However at best as I can recall cigarette smoking man is in some cave. Mulder was there also and there seems to be some importance to these caves. These caves are possibly in Arizona, New Mexico, or even Mexico. To keep the conspiracy secret two helicopters descend and launch hellfire missiles into the cave structure. We assume that cigarette smoking man is dead, since how could you (anyone) survive the missile attack. So maybe he did die or not?
But I donít think the new series is a continuation of the old series but possibly a new startup. I donít think we have to strain to hard to link the new series with the old series except for the fact that Mulder and Scully are on a quest to find the truth (despite the efforts of the cabal conspirators).

It is kinda fuzzy, but I believe the "cigarette" man seemed to be in the care of a Indian woman out West before it seemed he was blown up.

But a good story always needs a good villain to get the people watching.

Disney realized they can not make "Rogue One" and "Han Solo" with not having Darth Vader in these movies.

The website has a 21 minute video discussing the upcoming series. Almost at the end they discuss the demise of cigarette smoking man, but explain, that apparently, he was able to escape unbeknownst to us.

I suppose this could be artistic license, which they may or may not go into detail, but suffice it to say that cigarette smoking man had apparently dodged the missile?

Chris Carter said when he started the X-Files, the FBI almost shut him down !

Carter claims the FBI told him he was too close to the truth.

They acknowledge the time span, but I don't know if they will explain the restart of the X files, a crashed saucer might have something to do with it?

The first hour of the X-Files seemed "force" and "uneven".

Maybe the next 5 hours will settle down.

The idea of humans using alien technology against other humans, and the E.T.'s take the blame is an interesting idea.

It was boring. I thought Carter would come out swinging but it was very low key. I hope it gets better.
btw...that's pretty much the same plot that always ran through the old one.

I was expecting more, maybe tonightís episode will tighten it up. I just hope this doesnít end up being Mulder and Scully looking for the elite cabal using alien technology to conquer the world. Seems a little far-fetched that we couldíve reversed engineered alien technology so long ago when the materials to create such a vehicle were probably not even invented yet.

The X-Files were trying to make Gillian Anderson to take much less money than David Duchovny.

She made them pay before she said yes to the x-Files reboot.

This is a unequal pay issue for women.

Sad to hear that and yet Hollywood is supposed to be so liberal but yet so hypocritical. Hopefully the season will be successful. Second episode was typical X files which I enjoyed.

In this series aliens are a given and the only question (to me) is how we interact with them, other than reverse engineering their technology?
