TRINAISSANCE ® ~ SOOO VERY SAD!!! ~ "In The End" ~ https://youtu.be/eVTXPUF4Oz4

Chester Bennington, Linkin Park Singer, Dead at 41

http://www.rollingstone.com/music/news/chester-bennington-linkin-park-singer-dead-at-41-w493387

It starts with one thing
I don't know why
It doesn't even matter how hard you try
Keep that in mind
I designed this rhyme
To explain in due time
All I know
Time is a valuable thing
Watch it fly by as the pendulum swings
Watch it count down to the end of the day
The clock ticks life away

I tried so hard
And got so far
But in the end
It doesn't even matter
I had to fall
To lose it all

But in the end
It doesn't even matter

"Shortly after 9 a.m. this morning, we were notified by law enforcement of a death in Palos Verdes Estates," Brian Elias, chief of operations for the Los Angeles County Department of Medical Examiner, tells Rolling Stone. "We responded to the scene and unfortunately confirmed that Mr. Chester Bennington was deceased at the scene."

SESAC STRIKES LANDMARK US RADIO DEAL – FOR RATES IT CLAIMS ARE 50% HIGHER THAN ASCAP’S

https://www.musicbusinessworldwide.com/sesac-strikes-us-radio-deal-rates-claims-50-higher-ascaps/

In a note to media issued today, the for-profit SESAC didn’t hold back in expressing its dissatisfaction over ASCAP’s deal.

It said: ‘Based on reports that have appeared in the trade press regarding ASCAP’s recent settlement with the RMLC as well as published estimates of ASCAP’s market share, SESAC believes that the rates reflected in its arbitration award are approximately 50% higher than ASCAP’s — which is the rate the RMLC has been trying to impose on the music industry.

‘SESAC has agreed to use commercial arbitration to resolve license fee disputes with the RMLC, whereas ASCAP remains subject to a Consent Decree with the US Department of Justice. SESAC believes that the Consent Decrees impose restrictions that may prevent rightsholders from realizing the fair market value of their works.’

“WHILE WE BELIEVE THAT THE VALUE OF OUR MUSIC SUBSTANTIALLY EXCEEDS THE AMOUNT OF THE AWARD AND THE NATURE OF THE ARBITRATION PROCESS MADE IT INEVITABLE THAT WE WOULD SEE A REDUCTION IN OUR FEES FOR TERRESTRIAL RADIO, THE PANEL’S DECISION IS A RESOUNDING AFFIRMATION OF THE FACT THAT ASCAP RATES IN RADIO DO NOT REFLECT FAIR MARKET VALUE.”

JOHN JOSEPHSON, SESAC

Trinaissance ® ~ There are times when one stumbles across a vintage 1957 Corvette stored in a barn. Indeed Blessed to have found a Magnatone Maestro 150 which depicts the aforementioned analogy. Time to Test and Tweak! I would be remiss in my duties if I did not Thank Jim Miller...Owner of Mississippi Harp Mics ~ https://www.facebook.com/MSHarpMics/ for sharing his Time and Expertise in testing the tubes and advice on tube voicing. I could not believe how Good this amp sounds playing an Harmonica through it. Having said that, having the Best Harmonica Microphone (Mississippi Harp Mic) to play through...makes quite the difference!

Back in the 70s I was able to build several Heathkit units. I still have an AA 1800 huge power amp, must weigh about 50 pounds. I’d give anything to find an un built Heathkit of this model again. Anyhow I always heard that tube amplifiers provided a better or different sound but have never been able to compare the two. It would probably be difficult to explain without actually being able to compare 2 side-by-side amplifiers.

Lots of tube amplifiers on eBay. Nowadays you can probably find tubes on the Internet.

Also I still use an audio pulse digital delay system for my back speakers. This unit works great and to me works every bit as good as a home studio system. Anyone familiar with the audio pulse?

I bet this tube amp sounds great.

Ebay link doesn't seem to work here? But a search for Heathkit amplifiers on eBay which show plenty of examples.

"Life imitates Art far more than Art imitates Life" ~ Oscar Wilde

ACT I SCENE I:

Obsolete phrase: “independence of mind”

What drives the human spirit isn’t sameness from individual to individual. It’s difference. It’s uniqueness. The people who know that and embody it are the lights that burn and keep burning. They’re inextinguishable.

https://jonrappoport.wordpress.com/2017/08/22/obsolete-phrase-independence-of-mind/

The betrayal of independence of mind is fantastical in the culture. It raises a stink to the heavens. It oozes fanaticism.

Many of the little academic intellects who support that betrayal and play its tunes are Marxists in disguise, who seek revenge on humanity for their own failures and shortcomings, by putting populations under the totalitarian gun of political correctness. This is “progressivism.”

Without knowing it, I grew up on the legacy of Emerson and Thoreau and Walt Whitman. These giants of literature and philosophy had breathed the air of independence and knew what it meant in their blood and brains and souls and minds. They heralded an age that came and then went, buried in a growing landfill of collectivism.

User Image

No matter what the state of the culture, independence of mind is a virtue of the highest order.

It is there for anyone who wants to achieve it.

ACT I SCENE II:

Genre is dead

For the last few months I have been arguing with the students I teach that the concept of music genre is dead or, at the very least, terminally ill.

https://www.linkedin.com/pulse/genre-dead-very-least-feeling-rather-peaky-mike-mcnally

Simply, and this is a very simple thesis which needs more development, the idea of genre is over. Why? Because increasing numbers of consumers (who are not the same as music fans) rely upon playlists to discover new music - or old music for that matter.

User Image

The mainstream consumer today, doesn't think in terms of tribes in quite the same way that we used to. Why? Because increasingly music is homogenous in content, delivery and production but also because genre requires unique visual clues to reinforce the structure. If you listen in cultural isolation then a genre is an orphaned child. It has no clothes, no style, no haircut and no mojo.

Instead we have emotional genres. Genres that are defined not by tribal loyalties but by adjectives. We are moving into a world of adjective marketing. The streaming services increasingly champion the mainstream, the bland, the Happy Meal of music that tastes, smells and looks the same wherever you are and avoids cultural barriers by wrapping it in emotional branding.

Genre is dead because the tribe is dead. Genre is dead because fashion - or at least the fashion of individual identity is dead. Can it be saved? I think not. It will be underground and there will be pockets of resistance but the exception (if not exceptional) will prove the rule. Those who worry that Rock is a dying genre are not wrong. It's just they haven't realised that all genre is dying.

TOOK A MOMENT TO REVISIT VICKSBURG NATIONAL MILITARY PARK

The Siege of Vicksburg (May 18 – July 4, 1863) was the final major military action in the Vicksburg Campaign of the American Civil War. In a series of maneuvers, Union Maj. Gen. Ulysses S. Grant and his Army of the Tennessee crossed the Mississippi River and drove the Confederate Army of Mississippi, led by Lt. Gen. John C. Pemberton, into the defensive lines surrounding the fortress city of Vicksburg, Mississippi.

General McClellan’s Vision of George Washington

In a strategic moment in the Civil War, General George B. McClellan, who had been called by President Lincoln to take charge of the shattered Union forces, fell asleep at his desk. He had scarcely been asleep a moment, when it seemed that he was awake, and the whole room was filled with a radiant light. Suddenly, out of the light, he heard a voice, and later saw the face of George Washington, who gave him warning that the Confederate troops were on their way to take the Capitol.

Because of this, with something akin to supernatural knowledge, General McClellan was able to pursue Gen. Robert E. Lee, and stop the northern invasion by the Confederacy at Antietam, September, 1862. This vision was first reported in the Portland Evening Courier at the time the tide turned for the Union forces. Since that time, it has been written as a warning to the America people again and again because of its reference to the last war which will be fought toward the end of this century… when a great conflict could arise with the “oppressors of the whole earth” in which our land could be involved.

In General McClellan’s account of this vision, he relates that the voice of Washington, with penetrating clarity, called out to him:

The UFO Crash of 1865

General Robert E. Lee surrendered the Army of Northern Virginia to General Ulysses S. Grant on April 9, 1865. The same year, the first crash of an unidentified flying object (UFO) was reported in the western United States. The eyewitness account, provided by a trapper named James Lumley in present-day Montana, was widely circulated in the newspapers of the day.

http://www.fatemag.com/the-ufo-crash-of-1865/

“Mr. James Lumley, an old Rocky Mountain trapper, who has been stopping at the Everett House for several days, makes a most remarkable statement to us, and one which, if authenticated, will produce the greatest excitement in the scientific world. Mr. Lumley states that about the middle of last September, he was engaged in trapping in the mountains about seventy-five or one hundred miles from the Great Falls of the Upper Missouri, and in the neighborhood of what is known as Cadotte Pass. After sunset one evening, he beheld a bright luminous body in the heavens, which moved with great rapidity in an easterly direction. Visible for at least five seconds, when it suddenly separated into particles, resembling, Mr. Lumley describes it, ‘the bursting of a skyrocket in the air.’ A few minutes later, he heard a heavy explosion, which jarred the earth perceptibly, and this was shortly followed by a rushing sound, like a tornado sweeping through the forest. A strong wind sprang up about the same time, but suddenly subsided. Filling the air with peculiar odors of a sulphurous [sic] nature. These incidents would make a slight impression on the mind of Mr. Lumley, but for the fact that on the ensuing day he discovered, at the distance of about two miles from his camping place, he could see in either direction a wide path had been cut through the forest. Giant trees [were] uprooted and broke off near the ground. The tops of hills [were] shaved off and the earth plowed up in many places. Great and widespread havoc [was] everywhere visible. Following up this track of desolation, he soon ascertained the cause of it in the shape of an immense stone driven into the side of a mountain. The most remarkable part of the story is an examination of this stone and how it had been divided into compartments. In several places it was carved with hieroglyphics. Mr. Lumley also discovered fragments of a substance resembling glass, and here and there dark stains, as though caused by a liquid. He is confident that the hieroglyphics are the work of human hands, and the stone itself, is a fragment of an immense body, [which] must have [been] used for some purpose by animated beings.

“Strange as this story appears, Mr. Lumley relates it with so much sincerity that we are forced to accept it as true."
