Police: Florida man said he was speeding because he had to poop — then did; in back of squad car

Police say a Florida man told them he was speeding and then fled during a traffic stop because he desperately had to use the bathroom. It turned out the 24-year-old was full of crap. Literally.

Carlos Adonis Ramos-Erazo then off-loaded in the backseat of a police cruiser, according to the Daily Commercial. He also reportedly urinated in the officer’s car.
It all went down when a Lake County Sheriff’s deputy said he clocked Ramos-Erazo doing 75 mph in a 55 mph zone on Thursday. Once the officer pulled him over, the alleged speeder said he was in a hurry because his No. 1 priority was finding a bathroom.

According to the police report, Ramos-Erazo refused to get out of the car, took off and was chased by police all the way to his home. Police say he then ran, but not before he was shot with a Taser and arrested by police.

He then was put in the back of the squad car where he defecated in the police car, according to the arrest report.

He has been charged with aggravated assault and resisting with and without violence. He was released from jail after posting $18,000 bond.

Crystal, this is fascinating! The last 10 years I worked as an Engineering Manager in the automotive industry (2002--2012), we used stereolithography (3-D printing) to create engineering samples of new product designs. Draw it up in auto-cad, stick the blueprint in the 3-D printer--30 minutes later, you had a full sized sample of the part, made out of plastic!

The Manchester X-files - the hundreds of supernatural reports GMP have been called out to in the last five years

16 Mar 2016
Updated 07:02, 17 Mar 2016
By Sam Yarwood

On at least half a dozen occasions, the person on the other end of the phone requested the services of Ghostbusters

There have been more than 400 bizarre reports of ghosts, aliens, zombies and witches made to Greater Manchester Police in the last five years.

A Freedom of Information request by the M.E.N revealed that 999 operators have received 416 calls since 2010 where the supernatural have been mentioned.

Data shows that 2015 saw the highest number of calls at 84, meaning that emergency call handlers received a report on average every four days.

The largest volume of calls came from the Manchester area.

On at least half a dozen occasions, the person on the other end of the phone requested the services of Ghostbusters.

In July 2011, a man also rang 999 to tell police he had been abducted by aliens and was now walking funny.

He told the call handler that he felt daft reporting it as he didn’t think anyone would believe him and couldn’t remember where he was taken to.

The man, from North Manchester, also reported having cuts and bruises as a result of his “experience”.

The same year in Tameside, police received an abandoned 999 call from a man who said there were two aliens outside his house along with a dinosaur, another male was heard laughing in the background and they hung up.

In Salford in November 2014, operators took a call from a woman telling them aliens were plugging in and playing with pianos under her floor boards.

Also that month, a Bolton woman called police saying she thinks she has a ghost in her house. She claimed her shampoo had gone missing as well as her toothbrush and was sure her hamster wasn’t responsible.

Here are some examples of the calls:

MANCHESTER

April 2010 – A woman rang 999 telling them people were disappearing through her walls and that her friend had given her son powers of a witch. She told the call handler that the FBI and Scotland Year were also aware of the issue.

February 2011 – A male caller told operators that there was a ghost inside his body. It had been living in his heart and stomach for two days and was refusing to come out.

July 2011 – Man claims he was abducted by aliens the day before but felt daft reporting it as he didn’t think anyone would believe him. He says he can’t remember where he was taken but is now walking funny and has cuts and bruises.

November 2012 – A woman called police to tell them she had gone out that day with a view to avoiding aliens but unfortunately bumped in to one in Morrisons who happened to be English.

July 2014 – 999 operators took a call from a person talking about witches saying that someone had been giving out dangerous potions at the local Job Centre.

SALFORD

May 2010 – A man called 999 before hanging up wishing to report that an alien spaceship had just flown over the pub. He wanted officers to find it as he was worried it was dropping poison on everyone.

July 2011 – Police took a call from a man saying that there were aliens partying in his flat and he was suffering from close encounters.

June 2013 – A woman told the emergency call handler that there was no such thing as the police, claiming she was a private detective in a ghost land that she was stuck in with other people.

November 2014 – Operators took a call from a woman telling them aliens were plugging in and playing with pianos under her floor boards.

September 2015 – A man called police telling them he was at Salford Quays and was being attacked by aliens. He told the call handler saying they needed to get Sean Connery to come and help before hanging up.

Apple Encryption Engineers, if Ordered to Unlock iPhone, Might Resist
http://www.nytimes.com/2016/03/18/technology/apple-encryption-engineers-if-ordered-to-unlock-iphone-might-resist.html?_r=0
User Image
SAN FRANCISCO — If the F.B.I. wins its court fight to force Apple’s help in unlocking an iPhone, the agency may run into yet another roadblock: Apple’s engineers.

Apple employees are already discussing what they will do if ordered to help law enforcement authorities. Some say they may balk at the work, while others may even quit their high-paying jobs rather than undermine the security of the software they have already created, according to more than a half-dozen current and former Apple employees.

Among those interviewed were Apple engineers who are involved in the development of mobile products and security, as well as former security engineers and executives.

The potential resistance adds a wrinkle to a very public fight between Apple, the world’s most valuable company, and the authorities over access to an iPhone used by one of the attackers in the December mass killing in San Bernardino, Calif.

It also speaks directly to arguments Apple has made in legal documents that the government’s demand curbs free speech by asking the company to order people to do things that they consider offensive.

“Such conscription is fundamentally offensive to Apple’s core principles and would pose a severe threat to the autonomy of Apple and its engineers,” Apple’s lawyers wrote in the company’s final brief to the Federal District Court for the Central District of California.

The employees’ concerns also provide insight into a company culture that despite the trappings of Silicon Valley wealth still views the world through the decades-old, anti-establishment prism of its co-founders Steven P. Jobs and Steve Wozniak.

“It’s an independent culture and a rebellious one,” said Jean-Louis Gassée, a venture capitalist who was once an engineering manager at Apple. “If the government tries to compel testimony or action from these engineers, good luck with that.”
Breaking Down Apple’s iPhone Fight With the U.S. Government

The technology company has been locked in a major legal battle against law enforcement officials over privacy and security.

Timothy D. Cook, Apple’s chief executive, last month telegraphed what his employees might do in an email to customers: “The same engineers who built strong encryption into the iPhone to protect our users would, ironically, be ordered to weaken those protections and make our users less safe,” Mr. Cook wrote.

Apple declined to comment.

The fear of losing a paycheck may not have much of an impact on security engineers whose skills are in high demand. Indeed, hiring them could be a badge of honor among other tech companies that share Apple’s skepticism of the government’s intentions.

“If someone attempts to force them to work on something that’s outside their personal values, they can expect to find a position that’s a better fit somewhere else,” said Window Snyder, the chief security officer at the start-up Fastly and a former senior product manager in Apple’s security and privacy division.

Apple said in court filings last month that it would take from six to 10 engineers up to a month to meet the government’s demands. However, because Apple is so compartmentalized, the challenge of building what the company described as “GovtOS” would be substantially complicated if key employees refused to do the work.

Inside Apple, there is little collaboration among teams — for example, hardware engineers usually work in different offices from software engineers.

But when the company comes closer to releasing a product, key members from different teams come together to apply finishing touches like bug fixes, security audits and polishing the way the software looks and behaves.

A similar process would have to be created to produce the iPhone software for the Federal Bureau of Investigation. A handful of software engineers with technical expertise in writing highly secure software — the same people who have designed Apple’s security system over the last decade — would need to be among the employees the company described in its filing.

That team does not exist, and Apple is unlikely to make any moves toward creating it until the company exhausts its legal options. But Apple employees say they already have a good idea who those employees would be.
