ZETAR,

..ONE MIGHT PONDER THE MASSIVE PROBLEM(S) WHICH WILL RESULT IN VAST NUMBERS OF UNEMPLOYED! ..

It's already happening.

The situation is simple.

The World does not need all the people it is generating.

No amount of logic will provide an acceptable answer.

Something to ponder on.

Who will get the contracts for the reconstruction of all these cities in the middle east that are being destroyed ?

Who will supply the cement, and the steel ?

Never has 'follow the money' had such significance.

Dog owner stunned after her golden retriever gave birth to a GREEN puppy

The rare occurrence is only known to have happened only three times before in the world.

https://www.thesun.co.uk/news/4019696/golden-retriever-gave-birth-green-puppy-pictures/

It is caused by a bile pigment called biliverdin that is found in the placenta of dogs which can stain the puppy’s coat when it mixes with the mother’s amniotic fluid – the liquid that protects her pups.

Mrs Sutherland from Golspie in the Highlands has now named the pup Forest in recognition of her unusual shade.

She said: “The first pup was stuck, so myself and my daughter Claire managed to free him and pull him out safely.

“It was all hands on deck but then as the puppies started to arrive, we noticed that one of the puppies had green fur. We couldn’t believe it.

Driverless boats and aircraft to be tested off England's south coast

By James Titcomb
15 July 2017 • 7:30pm

Driverless boats and aircraft are set to roam off the southern coast of England after BAE Systems set up a test area for marine robots.

The defence giant has set up a scheme in the Solent area between Portsmouth and the Isle of Wight, complete with the regulatory clearances and communications networks needed to run trials of autonomous vehicles. Robot boats, aircraft and underwater drones are seen as vital to the future of the defence industry, as well as the oil and gas sector, and search and rescue operations.

BAE is leading the project, along with University of Southampton spin-out company ASV and a handful of other triallists, after receiving a Government grant. There will be two “control centre” vans fitted with radar and other communications equipment to control the vehicles. Trials are due to take place in various parts of the strait from October.

Frank Cotton, BAE Combat Systems’ head of technology, said the company would be testing two boats and a number of fixed-wing drones in the area, with ASV and others trialling their own boats, aircraft and underwater drones and businesses able to join the scheme to introduce additional marine vehicles.

Mr Cotton said that robotics was a “huge priority” for the Royal Navy. “The threats that the Armed Forces are having to face are becoming more complex as missiles get faster and drones get cheaper.

“As that complexity grows we need autonomy to counter that threat in a way that means the Navy doesn’t need to increase its manpower” he said. While autonomy is seen as vital to marine sectors, obtaining permission to run tests of the nascent technology is more laborious than getting approval to test driverless cars.

An Unmanned Warrior operation of more than 50 vehicles run by the Navy last year was the first of its kind but required painstaking planning and permissions to go ahead. Mr Cotton said a more permanent test area would lower the barriers to entry for trials.

Vehicles will be able to detect and adapt to other autonomous aircraft and boats in the area but the project said it would try to choose areas that limited disruption to existing commercial routes.

A trial run featured an area of a few hundred square yards but this is likely to be expanded when the test bed launches later this year. BAE said it ultimately hoped to invest in some of the technologies that will be trialled and bring them to market.

What Went Wrong When a Psychiatrist Self-Medicated With DMT

By Peter Hess on July 12, 2017

Filed Under Dark Web, Health, Medicine & Mental Health

In this era of brain augmentation, nootropics, microdosing, and alternative medicine, it might seem tempting to take your mental health concerns into your own hands. But a case report about a man who tried to DIY mental health treatment with DMT, published in the Journal of Psychoactive Drugs on July 7, might convince you to exercise caution when it comes to experimenting with psychotropic drugs.

This cautionary tale involves a former psychiatrist who tried to treat his treatment-resistant bipolar depression with the powerful psychedelic N,N-Dimethyltryptamine — better known as DMT — with dire results.

The unnamed patient, a 40-year-old retired psychiatrist, had lived with depression for most of his life and had experienced a manic episode. As such, he was diagnosed with bipolar I disorder. He hadn’t responded to multiple antidepressant medications, mood stabilizers, various antipsychotics, electroconvulsive therapy, or ketamine.

In an effort to ease his depression, the man tried taking DMT that he purchased on the dark web.

But he didn’t just use a little DMT. By any reasonable standard, he used a lot: He told doctors that he was vaporizing up to one gram of the drug each day. According to the DMT guide published by Erowid, a prominent harm-reduction resource, 2-5 milligrams is considered a threshold dose (effects are just barely noticeable), whereas 40-60 milligrams is considered a heavy dose (in which the user hallucinates intensely and totally detaches from reality). The retired psychiatrist was consuming 1,000 milligrams every single day, which is a heck of a lot.

After doing this for about six months, he did experience some relief from his depression.

Once he started seeing some benefits in his mood, he added a monoamine oxidase inhibitor (MAOI) called phenelzine to his drug regimen, which he also purchased on the dark web. This atypical antidepressant potentiates DMT — makes its effects stronger and longer-lasting — by inhibiting the enzyme that breaks down DMT in a person’s body. Phenelzine has a similar effect to the traditional brew known as ayahuasca, which combines an MAOI-containing plant (Banisteriopsis caapi) with a DMT-containing plant (usually Psychotria viridis) in order to potentiate the effects of the DMT.

To help him get to sleep, he was taking 4-6 milligrams of clonazepam, a benzodiazepine typically prescribed for anxiety.

When the psychiatrist stopped taking these three drugs because he had to travel on an airplane and he didn’t want to smuggle them along, his self-treatment regimen backfired. A few days later, he was hospitalized “with altered mental status,” according to the report.

“On arrival, the patient was nonverbal, combative, and required six security guards to restrain him. When less restrictive measures failed, he was given propofol 1,000 mg IV, ketamine 500 mg IM, midazolam 5 mg IV, diazepam 20 mg IV, and fentanyl 4 mg IV with minimal effect,” wrote the authors of the report.

He then had a seizure and had to be intubated. The report goes on:

Psychiatry was consulted after the patient’s delirium resolved and he was medically stabilized as he exhibited symptoms of mania and psychosis. He was pressured in his speech, hyperreligious, and delusional. He believed that demons were leeching into his soul and asked the medical staff for an exorcism. It was recommended that the patient be admitted to the behavioral health unit for mood stabilization.

The patient was prescribed lithium and clonazepam for his mania and paliperidone for his psychosis, and he left the hospital against medical advice. The doctors report that his condition is unknown.

Scientists know a decent amount about DMT, including its potential efficacy for treating addiction and depression, but it’s not completely clear how responsible it was for his psychosis. Using psychedelics can often exacerbate preexisting mental illness, but they don’t appear to cause mental illness.

A possible explanation for his erratic behavior could be his sudden cessation of clonazepam, which is known to be associated with psychosis. Regardless of which parts of this psychiatrist’s polypharmacy and self-medication routine were responsible for his traumatic experience, it’s always important to consult with your doctor or therapist before embarking on a treatment plan — especially if it involves DMT.

Abstract: N,N-dimethyltryptamine (DMT) is a psychoactive substance that has been gaining popularity in therapeutic and recreational use. This is a case of a physician who chronically took DMT augmented with phenelzine in an attempt to self-medicate refractory bipolar depression. His presentation of altered mental status, mania, and psychosis is examined in regards to his DMT use. This case discusses DMT, the possible uses of DMT, and the theorized mechanism of DMT in psychosis and treatment of depression, particularly involving its agonist activity at 5-HT1A, 5-HT2A, and 5-HT2C. It is also important to recognize the dangers of self-medication, particularly amongst physicians.

'Celebrity Family Feud' recap: Steve Harvey and Neil deGrasse Tyson go at it

By Tyler McCarthy
Published July 16, 2017

It was the nerds against the jocks on this week’s episode of “Celebrity Family Feud.” However, it was the show’s host that both got picked on and dished out the playful bullying as the competition heated up.

The first round put star basketball player Rick Fox and his family up against everyone’s favorite scientist, Neil deGrasse Tyson and family. Things got off to a heated start when Harvey greeted Tyson’s daughter, Miranda, and mentioned that he named her after a moon of Uranus. The scientist quickly corrected the host’s pronunciation of the planet, prompting a small rant about the difference between the planet and one’s backside from the comedian.

“You can say ‘your anus” when you’re, like, 8,” Tyson began, but Harvey quickly shut it down with some playful intimidation.

“You ain’t going to keep coming on here and talking to me like I’m stupid!” the host shouted.

He then joked that the second Tyson got a question wrong, he was going to pounce. Fortunately, that didn’t take long as Tyson couldn’t even come up with an answer in the first round. Tyson’s son made up a bit of the ground his father lost with the host. When Harvey commented on his voluminous hair, he told the bald 60-year-old host that he wishes he had some of it. Harvey looked shocked at first, then began to lament that he missed the Fox family, who were much nicer to him.

In the end, Tyson prevailed, despite Harvey’s jibing. In the fast money round they did pretty well, securing the full $25,000 for their charity.

Something unusual first came to light in April and May, when the team was studying a series of small and relatively cool red dwarf stars, some of which are known to have planets circling them.

https://www.afp.com/en/news/2265/peculiar-radio-signals-emerge-nearby-star

Ross 128 is not known to have planets, but "we realized that there were some very peculiar signals in the 10-minute dynamic spectrum that we obtained from Ross 128."

The signals were observed May 13 at 0053 GMT, and "consisted of broadband quasi-periodic non-polarized pulses with very strong dispersion-like features," he wrote.

"We believe that the signals are not local radio frequency interferences (RFI) since they are unique to Ross 128 and observations of other stars immediately before and after did not show anything similar."

There are three main possibilities to explain the bursts.

They could be emissions similar to solar flares.

They could be emissions from another object in the field of view of Ross 128.

Or they might be a burst from a high orbit satellite, Mendez wrote.

Since the signals are likely too dim to be picked up by other radio telescopes in the world, Mendez said that scientists at the Arecibo Observatory joined with astronomers from SETI (Search for ExtraTerrestrial Life) would use the Allen Telescope Array and the Green Bank Telescope to observe the star for a second time late Sunday.

The results of these observations should be posted by the end of the week, he said.

"I have a Pina Colada ready to celebrate if the signals result to be astronomical in nature," Mendez said.
