They mentioned this also on bbc news yesterday.
Evan after Fact's debukers still dont believe.if there are more stars then grains of sand then its only commen sence that life is out there.to say there is no life at all is just ignorant and to say theres no iteligent life is egoistic.

YEAH ...THE BBC HAS ALWAYS SPEARHEADED ITEMS SUCH AS THIS...NOT MUCH MENTIONED IN THE US.
GOOGLE A SEARCH ON THE "DRAKE EQUATION"...SOME SAY HIS(FRAKE DRAKE) THOUGHTS ARE PASSE' BUT HE WAS ONE OF THE FIRST TO TAKE A STAB AT QUANTIFYING SUCH.

Hi ZETAR , yes i'd heard of the Drake equation before , i'd also heard of another equation that predates Drake but i cant remeber the name , i shall research this.

Thanx ZETAR , i did a quick search in google images and thought that image pleased me the most.
I'd already heard of Enrico Fermi and the Fermi paradox which was near on 10 yrs before Drake , but am sure i've seen or read about another scientist from even earlyer then 1950's giveing an equation or theory about ET life.but herlass i cant seem to find the info am lookin for.

Well…maybe this is an intitial attempt to get the idea circulating in public gestalt. I suspect that we’ll be seeing more of this.

If technological civilizations actually have a tendency to grow and spread throughout the stars, consuming greater and greater resources as they do, then I think the number of worlds with E.T.'s would be a lot lower, since so many of them may have been wiped out by their continuously expanding rivals.
I think a number of precedents historically set by our own form of life, make this scenario look like a realistic possibility. Those being basically every campaign of conquest or struggle over natural resources that has ever been undertaken by humankind.

But debunkers do believe. I have yet to see anyone posting on any board anywhere, (and that includes places such as Bautforum and Space.com) who believes we are alone in the universe or in our galaxy. The arguments start when people suggest there is at least a possibility that ET might have visited Earth at some point.
In my opinion too, of course it is incredibly unlikely we are alone in the universe - it's not exactly rocket science!

Newly discovered planets just make me shiver with excitement - is there intelligent life? Just imagine the existance of a Jupiter-sized earth! Ha!
