Positron : When I turn my telescope to the planet Venus I always see an atmosphere. The same with Jupiter (I actually see equatorial belts and oftentimes the great red spot which is an ongoing storm for centuries). Saturn, besides its rings, shows an atmosphere also. Uranus too...visually.

So my question :

Why have I not observed a visible atmosphere on the moon {or any other professional/amateur astronomer} ?

With the exception of course being sodium, potassium, argon, to name a few, it does have an exosphere.

POSITRON,

I'M OF THE OPINION THAT YOU HAVE CONVEYED YOUR INSIGHT/HYPOTHESIS. NASA DOES CLAIM VARIOUS MOONS DO CONTAIN WATER SUCH AS JUPITER'S MOONS.

WITHOUT ATTEMPTING TO PUT FIRE OUT WITH GASOLINE...UR APPROACH MAY BE (MERELY A SUGGESTION) TO CORRELATE EVIDENCE/PICTURES ASSOCIATED WITH THE MOONS AROUND JUPITER...

THIS LINK IS FOR YOU SIR...

http://www.theverge.com/2015/3/12/8199689/jupiter-moon-ganymede-hidden-ocean-water

NASA confirms there's an ocean on Jupiter's moon Ganymede

'Almost everywhere we look there's water.'

I ASK THAT ~ FUTURE POSTS PROVIDED ~ THAT SAID PICTURES ARE SIZED FOR THE EASE OF CASEBOOK MEMBERS TO VIEW AND NOT IMPEDE OTHER TOPICS OF INTEREST WHICH MEMBERS WOULD LIKE TO VIEW.

IMHO...IT WOULD INDEED BE BENEFICIAL TO YOUR ASSERTIONS TO COMPARE AND CONTRAST EARTH'S MOON TO GANYMEDE AND DRAW SPECULATION FROM OBVIOUS SIMILARITIES.

IF YOU NEED HELP WITH RESIZING YOUR PICTURES ~ ASK ANY MOD FOR ASSISTANCE AS WE ARE HERE FOR THE BENEFIT OF ALL CASEBOOK MEMBERS.

ZET....why are you pandering to this?

Being 'nice" (for want of a better word) under these circumstances does nothing for places like this! There's a good chance interesting people with good ideas/ outlooks have refrained from contributing because steps are not made to curb the ridiculous! Yeah of course everyone has the right to put their points/ideas/beliefs forward but the line has to be drawn IN MY OPINION..... Just remove those in question & be done with it! I really, honestly can't see what the problem is. Can anyone give 1 good reason why not?

The day obvious ridiculous crap like this is not given a forum maybe the day things start to change/ get more interesting for other members & the community in general...even Someone like my good self might take this place more seriously. Now there's a thought .

ps...what's the point of resizing the pictures rolleyes what's that going to achieve laugh you people crack me up at timeswink

Peace.

"give me one good reason why I should: "JUZZZZ FIDDLE WITH IT""

I'LL GIVE YOU SIX REASONS MY FRIEND!!!

General Rules and Regulations for Posting

1) This forum is about UFOs and related topics. If you want to discuss religion, politics, or other off-topic subjects, there are many free forums on the NET that you can use. We do have one board where you can post off topic news items, "Today's Off-Topic News."

2) We encourage young people to join us in our search for the truth behind the mystery of UFOs. Therefore, many of our young members' parents monitor the boards for profanity and sexual innuendo. Keep your posts intelligent, and free from profanity. The use of outright profanity, sexual related subjects, or other flaming posts will be deleted. The poster will be given a warning message, and if another similar post is made, that member will be banned from this forum.

3) As a member you have the right to disagree with another member's post. However you can do this without provoking, baiting or attacking that persons character. Personal attacks or attempts to flame a post will not be tolerated. Again, a warning message will be issue and a member will be banned upon a second offense. If you are offended by a posters comment, it's best to find another topic to post on.

4) If you desire to start a new thread, first try to find an existing one that relates to your topic. This way, the board will stay more compact, and topics will be easier for other members to find.

5) Any member who enters our forum with the intention of causing havoc, especially with a group, will be banned, along with the entire group.

6) This board is monitored by our group of Global Moderators. At the top of our forum, right below the main graphic, is a link to "members." You can click on that link, and then select "view staff members." You may report any problems you have to one of the Global Moderators, and we will deal with your problem.

We hope you enjoy your stay at the UFO Casebook forum, and develop a long term relationship with our friends and members who are searching for the truth behind the mystery of UFOs.

Thank you,

Dej, I feel your pain. One could argue there is sufficient cause for deleting just within the two quotes above. However, boards like this have to walk a fine line between intelligent exchange, decorum, and survival. Just one more reason why UFOlogy has such a horrible reputation.

Best thing to do with posters like this is simply ignore them. They will tire of the game quickly if no one takes the bait.

Your six reasons are just basic/general forum rules---- these six reasons really have no relevance regarding the problem I (& I know for a fact) many others have regarding the point I'm making. I could say you've no idea what I'm talking about, ZET.... But deep down I'm quite sure you do. So it's pointless going on...cheers

Im not sticking up for anyone here.... Science itself has its ways of validating certain things... Until something else comes along and proves it wrong under certain circumstances...I personally keep an open mind and rule nothing out...
Life seems to find a way.
Water... Life on the moon? Possible. Maybe not a lifeform were (yet) familiar with.

Note to self : Expanding and opening the mind...
= infinite possibilities.

Z : THX FOR THE REMINDER ON THE GALILEANS....THOSE ARE COOL TO OBSERVE VISUALLY TOO ! BECAUSE OF DISTANCE HOWEVER... THEY ARE NOT QUITE WITHIN THE GOLDILOCKS ZONE...YET... STILL INEXCLUDABLE.... EUROPA COMES TO MIND.........
I REMEMBER WHEN SCIENCE BOOKS SAID THERE WERE ONLY NINE MOONS ORBITING JUPITER.....LAUGHS !

SO MUCH LEARNED OVER TIME AY ? !

SATURNS MOON TITAN ALSO...COULD HAVE LIFE....I AM SURE THERE IS LIFE THROUGHOUT THIS VAST UNIVERSE.....WHEREVER/HOWEVER IT MAY HAVE FOUND A WAY.... TRANSPERMIA.... PANSPERMIA? WHO KNOWS ? ITS HERE...ON PLANET EARTH..................FOR SURE ! ( I THINK ) cheesy

BTW Z - I DIDNT KNOW JIMI PLAYED THE FIDDLE ....FAR OUT AND ALL THAT HIPPY GROOVY STUFF....DIG ! ? grin

I most certainly did NOT say that! Harumph!

But, to specifically enjoin notdej... I understand a point of yours, but I think you're missing the point ZETAR is making.

In your opinion, of which I share, ufology is hurt by not just the hoaxters and scammers, but also by the irrationally credulous. The problem is, the boards are a (relative) democracy. People come together from all walks of life and all frames of mind to exchange in commerce of the strange. Positron may diverge in his approach and thought from the rest of us, but as long as he doesn't HARRASS us, or use foul language, he's allowed to be cantankerous (and unwilling to consider our own thoughts it would seem).

If we begin to shout down people as wrong and prohibit them from posting because we feel they are willfully in error, then what's the point? Many times, there have been proposals to have threads that only allow a certain kind of thinking. Forgetting the fascist slant to that, it just reeks of echo chamber to me. In order for thought and discourse to be robust and strong, it needs to be challenged.

We have to trust that non-posters who view these threads are discerning enough to hear the strong arguments from the weak ones.

ALSO, the whole image resizing was to allow for an easier time on tablets and smart phones, from what I understand.

We need to allow the unpopular opinions, and it's our jobs to challenge them, passionately and soundly.

You might contend that some posters, when they are being so truculent are doing it to cause havoc or antagonize. That's for a moderator to decide. Otherwise, we abide or ignore.

Well not having been here that long and getting ready to open my own forum I am of the opinion you just have to weed out what you can use and leave the rest as fodder. This is why an ignore function is a great option to have.

hi. i see you, like purr, have an open mind, but are, likewise, completely powerless amidst your raging peers who want me and the thread deleted. they are the fallen ones, the opposition of the truth.

i refrain from comparing moon photos and ganymede photo. these photos are self-evident and since you put it as a condition for not "vetting", i call for vetting. as far as i am concerned, you can go and delete the whole thread. i know the truth is on my side, and in the end it will be accepted as fact.
