Been there and done exactly that. Check it out if you will. I am 100% serious, Pos1tron. And since your latest contributions seem indicative of a preference to slug it out in the forums after all, while going off topic , I'm locking this thread pending mod review.

My comments about the resetting thread views was a joke and many of the regulars have seen it happen before. MOKSHA seems to be a frequent victim of it for some reason. There's never been an explanation of why it happens and it's just chalked up to "stuff happens sometimes". I doubt it's a high priority for anyone to track down because what does it really matter or affect? Of course, one can read all kinds of motives into it so I decided to make one up that is just as valid as any other. grin

As far as closing this thread because some members don't like it - well, if the discussion is civil and meets the Admins guidelines we all agree to as members then the thread should remain open IMO. I view it as the UFOCB Constitution. Perhaps it needs an amendment but that's not my call. Did anyone not learn something new from this thread or got inspired to look further into things?

For instance: we got to see what some believe is a lake on the moon and that should have prompted people to research and hopefully learn a bit more about the moon, photography, image filtering and other sciences. Then we have Buck Nelson and a host of other characters including Bo(!) whom I never heard of before and now I do. I'm not into geography but I learned there is now better understanding of the earths core rotations. Then we have those nazi's who should never be forgotten.

So while one can blow all of this off, there are positives along with the negatives if one is willing to wade outside their comfort zone even for a short time.

Of course, this should not be taken that I believe these claims but they do interest me and apparently others, otherwise why read the thread?

Cool ! wink laugh

Water ? Yes

Atmosphere ? Well, at least a huge exosphere where Earth itself passes through once a month.

Life ? Mankind needs to send humans back and do excavations. We also need to search the depths- caves/holes.....Who knows what will be found or what's already there ?

We MUST not contaminate it when we do. :

Or have we already ?

As in real life, mod(s) sometimes need modding. Also, those who provoked the closing of the thread are not welcome to now participate as if they didn't attack the thread and the OP. I trim the weed around my house, but, i prefer to keep my axes burried.

Now, back to the Moon and it's glorious lakes, forests and civilization.

I did a bit of redesign on my MoonExposed blog moonexposed.blogspot.com 5100 views and slowly going strong.

Remember Tsiolkovsly. It is completely surrounded with cities and countless smaller lakes of various size, next biggest one being (funnily enough) Waterman some 75 km southward.

Tsiolkovsky over the central island, looking south, Waterman in the top left corner.

User Image

Slowly zooming toward Waterman..

User Image

And here it is, next biggest lake after Tsiolkovsly in this area.

User Image

Contrast corrected lunar orbiter and Google Moon shot of Waterman reveal the exact shape of the lake on the left side of the crater as seen in the color photo above.

User Image

Waterman in AS08-12-2196

But Tsiolkovsky is not even the biggest one. 420 km wide Mare Marginis lake / ocean is almost 3 times bigger. It also appears to be bit shallower than Tsiolkovsky as bottom of the lake is more visible.

Now, the mind boggling fact that your minds cannot accept due to programming. Fact being that all the white areas you see in this Chang'e 5 frame are cities. This frame is worth milllion $ itself, because it is the second photo after AS08-12-2196 frame that reveals Moon surface as it really is, completely covered with cities, lakes and irrigation ponds, often clustered together in regular arrays as clearly visible in this frame. Click for bigger resolution and look into it, make your own conclusions.

Ha, glad to welcome you back again Pos1tron. You are correct, mods need modding, be it that at Casebook the niche is already taken, namely by the Mod Directors and Administrator. If you want that job you'll have to apply for it, I'm afraid. To add a bit of modding myself: all members are welcome to participate in our forums, and have the right to reply. Again all, please keep it on topic yafellers!.

I am viewing your images with great interest. I do admit to having some difficulty in making out the cities you refer to. Also: the 'lakes' indeed have a watery visual aspect.

I just heard the Chinese (helped by my countrymen, the Dutch) will pass over lunar farside (and taking pictures!) by uh... 2019.

Like forever like that song, Klaatubarada. And it's about the Moon as so many songs, even sacred traditions are. Just think back to Judaeism being a Moon religion, our satellite appointed to regulate YHWH's holy seasons since Abraham. And so many times while at my parents (who have a big garden designed as miniature jungle for our cats) I spent all hours listening to the birds, insects, rescuing the occasional fallen, exhausted chick on first flight from our utterly ruthless lovelies, and whenever under clear sky looking up at the Moon and stars.

I'm sure I'm as programmed in whatever way as anyone else. But I wonder and fantasize, lately with Pos1tron's hypothesis in mind. How special a place is the Moon really? If ETs were real or if I were one, I might well find some use for that swirling piece of rock.

Is there more than we have been told? Or may we trust our government/space agencies to reliably inform us about everything?

You will hardly see individual houses from this orbital perspective, but it is quite clear white areas are cities, many with circular (or irreglular or elongated) central lakes and irrigation ponds streaming out of a bigger lake in parallel lines. There is no doubt about this. Take a better look at the various areas, zoom in.

For comparison look at this nightshot of part of Europe by Suomi satellite from 2012. I added some blue hue, just to make it easier to compare to Chang'e 5 photo which also has artificial blue hue.
