I guess I'll answer my own question. I had "heard" it was fake. Which means probably that the movie version and Walton's account have some serious divergences. I could swear I heard that one of the loggers made an admission that it was faked to cover for something, but again, that's probably someone's hearsay, just throwing more disinfo into the whole tangled mess.

It's definitely an interesting story.

I thought it was that one of them failed the lie detector test, but he had warrents or some thing so he was nervous? maybe I'm thinking of some thing different undecided

I just watched the movie in recent months, for the first time. I thought it was well done as far as capturing the local flavor, and particularly good at showing the interactions between the members of the logging crew. I'm very familiar with that sort of thing. Walton seems to have made peace with the movie, which is good I suppose, but I recall reading that the representation of his experiences while on the ship or whatever were about 10% Walton and 90% Hollywood.

This is one of those cases that self-appointed debunkers go after in order to make a name for themselves. Usually they just end up looking nasty or foolish. There is a lot of evidence here, and not much of it contradicts the stories of the guys on that logging crew. Of course there is endless BS written about it, but that's just part of the deal, unfortunately.

I do agree it`s very much a 90% Hollywood style UFO movie, I loved the film and very entertaining but did it really happen? Someone mentioned a little short of info, just checkout BJ Booth and here on the Casebook forum or elsewhere.
Running through as much info as I have done over the years I`m still a little suspect on the characters and the whole scenario, there is one account somewhere on-line Walton shacked up in a friends house and faked the whole event laid low until the dust settled etc.
Here is the saying yet again nothing comes easy in UFO circles including this one! PowerKnight wink

I listened to Travis speak at the Symposium last summer. He comes across quite well. He did say the movie producers took a lot of liberties with his account. Some things in the movie did not occur as depicted. He is trying to get someone to produce a more accurate version.

As I recall, something like five of the people involved passed several lie detector tests. There was one individual who passed one but was found "inconclusive" on another. Some folks jumped on this, saying it meant the whole thing was untrue.

Count me as a firm believer that this case was real (and not a hoax). Yeah the one guy who Lie detector test came back as "Possiblly not telling the whole truth" was neverous as hell, because he had some warrents or such out agianst him.

Then a number (if not all of the original witnesses) took additional and more updated Lie Detcetor tests (something like) 20 years later and again they all passed.

Anyone who thinks this case is a hoax, I invite them to get together with six of their friends and make up a story, any story (how about your Dog speaks Spanish?) and then see if all of you can pass Lie detector Tests while sticking to the story....

I should also say that a number of the guys in the Walton case were NOT his friends or drinking buddies, they were just some guys thrown together to do a job that day, so ask yourself: Why would they Lie for him? What could they possibly have to gain?
