Johnny, Valuca, and Lawwalk, those are beautiful photos you folks have posted here. Great shots.

What type of camera do you use to get those photos? Are they like a 3.1, 5.1 or 6 mgpxl or what type of camera to get such clairity?

I have a 3.1mpxl Canon Powershot, but it does not take pictures with that type of clairty. Or perhaps, I just do not know what settings to use. To get the most mileage out of camera;s, one has to learn all the bells and whistles the hardware has, and I often just use the auto setting. Perhaps I am missing out on the best the camera has to offer by just using the middle of the road setting so to speak.

Thanks EBS for the compliment. I use a 6megapixel Fuji digital SLR camera for most of my shots. But have also used whatever is around at the time. This includes an Olympus 3.1 megapixel and a Sony 1.2 megapixel camera.

Although having a higher megapixel camera will help in the clarity/sharpness, the main thing is the composition of the photo itself and the quality of the lense. You said you have a Canon Powershot... Canon makes excellent cameras. Our forum friend "Grounded" (recent birthday boy), shoots with a Canon and has had excellent results.

Some of the newer cameras have built-in stabilization to correct a perhaps not-so-steady hand holding of the camera which would translate to not so sharp pictures. Do you take a breath and let it out slowly before taking your picture? That will help... it's the same theory as hunters use before taking their shot, and it does work. Try steadying you and the camera against something like a wall, a car, a fence, a tree or of course a tripod. When was the last time you had the lense cleaned?

I'm just offering tips I'm sure everyone already knows, but since I've not seen any of your photos then I'm really just shooting in the dark here (pardon the pun).

Post up a picture and let us see what you got..

I mostly use a 6 megapixel Konica Minolta Dimage 6, but also shoot with a Canon powershot which is only 2 megapixel and it takes lovely photos. I sometimes use a Kodak which is I think a 3mp. I also have my eye on a digital slr, but will have to wait proabaly a year to get it. Johhny gave some really great tips on getting the photos. I personally find nature easier to photograph than people indoors.
For photgraphing people and even some nature scenes I love to switch to black and white photos.
Have fun taking photos but bear in mind it can be addictive! wink

Beautiful leaves Lawwalk. All of the leaves have fallen off the trees here, and I always feel a little sad when that happens.
At least the Blue Spruce doesn't change! smiley

It's been awhile,, so thought I'd throw a photo from 97 of Mt. Shasta for a holiday shot for us...

How about everyone shooting their areas so we can get a holiday idea of your location...
