xx What about The Matrix?

A movie that freaked me about and made me sit up and realize a fundamental truth about so called fact is The Matrix. We can be completely fooled into believing absolutely anything. There is nobody who can say for absolute certainty that we are not inside an ornate simulation. As such, what you think you see or perceive is just an illusion.

Of course this line of thought yields no fruit. It is unhelpful in the quest for truth here, inside this abstract Matrix that we experience. It does make one think though. If true, are there ways to bypass the illusion here? I know that spiritually minded people would tend to agree with the assertion that what we think is real is illusory.

You look at the event and then you look for fact. The person who sees believes it is fact, but those who don't want validity through investigation. You take the best photos we have on this site. Sutton-we have validity through fact. The fact is it was George Sutton, we have an idea who took the photo, we know why he was in St Paris, we know what sort of car it was and we are pretty sure of about where the photo was taken. They are facts. The Rosebud photo we know who took it, why he was there. These are facts. They validate the information. I donot for one minute believe that all of the sightings are UFO's, the same as with all of the photos, but those that aren't can usually be explained away very quickly. The rest still need the facts surrounding them to ensure that the disbelievers have got absolutely no ammunition to fire. The more we know about the real incidents the better armed we all are in the search for the truth of the conspiracy that we all now face, even the slightest anomally should be traced to ensure that validity is our prime objective.

My son started secondary school this year, and his history teacher's first topic was Roswell. Shocked? Yeah, so was I. As a long standing UFO-nut I was delighted that his class would be looking into UFOs, aliens and crashed debris on the desert plains of New Mexico (although, thankfully, I didn't have to pay out the plane fare for a field trip! grin)

Of course, the topic was being presented to show the class the difference between historically determined 'fact', and events that were less easy to establish as 'fact'. I think this is the same point as is raised on this thread. At the end of the day, despite what may be written in history books, what is considered as 'fact' is only a consensus of opinion based upon evidence. Given the amazing secrecy cultures beloved of our governments, how can we ever be sure what is real, despite what they might tell us is the correct version of history? After all, none of us are in possession of all the facts, and never will be. huh

We have to look at the evidence and make our own minds up.

Andy,

You make some good pionts, but you left out the single greatest factor... personal experience.

It is NOT a theory that I am a witness to four UFO sightings. It is NOT a theory that I am a federally licenesed aircraft mechanic. It is NOT theory that I know the difference between conventional and nonconventional aerospace vehicles. So, the fact is, in my humble opinion, UFO's as current definition provides. do exsist.

I agree with rono.Until you actually see one or two,you will continue to be sceptical and unbelieving they do exist.
To me is is FACT!I've seen them, one day "they" may reveal themselves.
I'm still waiting.Albeit patiently.
