This is the exact same stuff I've been seeing and I started a thread in this area of the forum detailing the same strange behaviour. All due respect to those rubbishing them these things travel in totally random directions and glow very bright increasing in size by 10 or 20 times then simply vanishing. I too thought satellites but I dont think so.

Also as someone mentioned...

The night I saw them I was looking up thinking come on let me see something please, please, please and then they appeared. No way was it a trick of the eye, when you see something you KNOW you've seen it. I felt euphoric inside as they just kept on sailing across the sky and the glowing one really stumped me, lost for words, a truely beautiful sight!!

If they are satellites why cant I seethem on every clear night, some nights they are there and other nights nothing. They seem to be seriously high up.

Cheers - Jimmy

Hi all,
I'm so glad I stumbled on this site!
I too have seen these 'things' in the sky. I was first made aware of them in the summer of 05. Being a smoker with a young family I go for a smoke in my back garden here in a small Mid Wales town.
I was one night sat out facing west when a brilliant light caught the corner of my eye. At first I thought it was a plane, but it faded as it moved towards me from my left. Then vanished! It was a clear night, easy to track objects in the night sky.
After that I saw them every night. I too thought they 'must be a satellite', but after observing what appeared to be two satellites moving in the same direction, one of them lit up (as if shinning a beam of light directly at me) then disappeared leaving the other to carry on it's flight path. Again, clear nights sky. I spoke to my brother about this and on subsequent nights he too has seen them. Funny thing is, as was stated earlier, it as if if you ask to see them they do indeed appear! Very strange?? In total, over the past 3 years I would guess I've seen around 30-40 of them. I didn't see that many last year as the sky was cloudy most of the time (wonderful summer! lol) but the two previous years I had seen many. I wish there was an easy explanation for what I and my brother (& others) have been seeing, but there isn't. The thing is I've always been one to look up at the stars and wonder, but it was only from 05 til now that I have been seeing these 'lights' & the amount of them that are appearing I would of noticed them before! Of that I'm in no doubt!
Regards,
Rob, Newtown Mid Wales

Hi,

Me and friend some years ago saw these star like objects on several occasions. They would move, change direction and go really bright and then fade into nothing? some were orange and they all seem to drop in the sky at some point? I live in the south of England in the country and even though my friend passed away I still see them. I saw one quite low once behind a house, a bright ball is the only way I can describe it. I have seen them in groups too and I have been puzzled by this ever sincesmiley huh

Let's get the unpleasant part out of the way right off. I hate to tell you this, but you're dead wrong about satellite behavior. You're living in the 1960s. Any visible satellite is a spy sat. The communication variety are 22k miles away in geosynchronous orbit. Today's spy sats are far more sophisticated than most believe. With the advent of Ion engines they can move all over the place.

Now that we've got that out of the way, what kind of optics are you using? Not the naked eye I hope? If it is, might I recommend something simple like this?

http://www.opticsplanet.net/ci-skymaster-15x70-gb.html

That's good enough to get rid of most of the optical illusions created by the atmosphere. Keep in mind that these illusions change with climatic conditions. The magnification will give you a better look at things as well. Just don't make the mistake of buying a cheap telescope. It would cost a grand or more to get a telescope good enough to beat astronomy binoculars. BTW, your arms will appreciate a cheap tripod too.

If you're already using optics, disregard this post. Otherwise blow a few bucks, try this, then get back to us. Okay?

Atmospheric illusions are the pits. Besides, it's very cool to see things like the moons of Jupiter.

Take care

HEADS UP

...Space Weather News for March 7, 2011
http://spaceweather.com

DOUBLE FLYBY ALERT: This morning, March 7th, space shuttle Discovery undocked from the International Space Station. This sets the stage for a spectacular series of double flyby sighting opportunities. The station and shuttle will be flying over parts of the United States and Europe tonight and tomorrow, appearing in the night sky as a closely-spaced pair of bright lights. This is also a last chance to see Discovery in flight, because the orbiter will be retired after landing in Florida on Wednesday, March 9th.

Check the Simple Satellite Tracker (http://spaceweather.com/flybys) or download our smartphone flybys app (http://simpleflybys.com) to find out when to look. If you'd like a phone call when the ISS is about to fly over your location, sign up for Space Weather Phone: http://spaceweatherphone.com .

Happy hunting.

A few weeks ago I began seeing some odd star-like objects. These look like large stars that suddenly begin moving and its not an optical illusion. They are a star in the sky and I've seen them start to travel and go out of sight and I've also seen them go down below the tree line and then come back up to the place they were originally in the sky. The stars I've seen have a yellow hue and are good sized, not tiny dots of light. They are not airplanes and they are not satellites. Glad to see others are seeing these things. Douglas A. Elwell has written a book called Planet X and talks about how the ancients would have viewed the alignment of the planets as the assembly of the gods meeting in the heavens. I believe we are seeing a return of the Nephelim.

One question. How do you know they're not sats?

BTW: The Nephilim were indigenous to Earth. It was their fathers that were not. Just a technicality.

yip, lots going on . satalites are the skeptics copout, i use a rule of thumb , if the object stops and goes off at right angles its ET. end of story. anything else is fair game lol. but i do not bother with the high flying dots in the sky anymore as plenty to be had low flying.

The vast majority of star-like objects moving across the sky at night are satellites and various space junk. Take a look at this image from ESA showing all the stuff that's floating around up there (and check out the high-resolution version to get the full picture - you have to click once more to see it at its highest res, then scroll up and down on the picture.)

Also, some of the sudden bright flashes you sometimes see are down to iridium flares.

The rest of most the various lights seen moving high in the air at night are aircraft anti-collision and navigation lights.

That said, I'm not a skeptic when it comes to the possibility of ET visitation (I've personally seen what might have been one from just a few feet away for a start) but Occam's Razor needs to be applied here in my opinion - the vast majority of those lights have mundane explanations.

BY-IN-LARGE...MOST ITEMS IN THE SKY VIEWED BY MANY ARE TERRESTRIAL IN ORIGIN...HOWEVER,THAT MINISCULE 5% OF WHICH IS NOT TERRESTRIAL IS THAT WHICH GETS MY INTEREST...

I'VE TAKEN SEVERAL SHOTS OF ITEMS WHICH HAVE MET MY CRITERIA OF OBJECTS OF INTERESTS AND YES...MANY BLEND INTO THE NIGHT SKY AND LOOK MERELY AS ANOTHER STAR IN THE NIGHT.

ONE PARTICULAR NIGHT WHEREIN IT WAS BASIC ASTRONOMY 101 FOR MY WIFE AND DAUGHTER...WE SET UP IN THE FRONT YARD...TELESCOPE ON STAND...
I HAD A FLASHLIGHT IN MY HAND AND FOR SOME REASON I HAD THIS IMPULSE TO SHINE THE LIGHT AT THIS WHAT APPEARED TO BE A BRIGHTER THAN NORMAL STAR WHICH WAS OVERHEAD AT ABOUT THE 11:00 POSITION FACING (E.SE.)...
WHAT WAS UNUSUAL WAS THE MOMENT MY LIGHT MADE CONTACT WITH THIS OBJECT IT BEGAN TO MOVE IN A (N NE.) DIRECTION AND IN SO DOING WHILE IN IT'S TRAGECTORY ...SAID OBJECT BEGAN TO DIM/FADE AND EVENTUALLY STOPPED...KINDA LIKE...WELL WE'VE CHANGED POSITION AND QUASI-CLOAKED SO WE SHOULD BLEND IN AGAIN...

THE POINT BEING IS THAT THIS STAR LIKE OBJECT WHICH WAS FLASHED ...BEGAN TO MOVE IN AN INTELLIGENTLY CONTROLED PATTERN WHILE DIMMING IT'S INTENSITY AND STOPPED... ALL THE WHILE WITH "NO" AUDIBLE SOUND WHAT-SO-EVER...

NO DOUBT WE WERE ALL FREAKING AND SAYING LOOK,LOOK,LOOK...ARE YOU SEEING THE SAME THING?

I'M A PRIVATE PILOT AND HAVE A GOOD IDEA AS TO WHAT/HOW COMMERCIAL TRAFFIC/PRIVATE TRAFFIC
SHOULD APPEAR IN THE NIGHT SKY...MY LIFE DEPENDS ON SUCH...WHAT WE SAW THAT NIGHT WAS NOT A HELICOPTER,NOR STROBBED/OR LIT TO FAR/AIM GUIDE LINES...

Im so happy I found this website because the things that have been discussed I have been seeing for some time now.

The first time I saw one of these star like objects move across the sky I was amazed.

I have seen them go in all directions and even get much brighter than others and some just vanish.

After reading a previous post I got the shivers up my spine. One night me and my brother (who I was trying to convince of what I have been seeing) saw one of these stars. However this time it got really bright as if it was a SPOTLIGHT shining on us. So much so we got scared and believed we should move. Now Im no child as i am 21 but that experience really amazed me. Now since others have also seen such a thing, it has frightened/ intrigued me more.

However I am really happy Im not crazy and others have seen what I have

If are smaller brilliant points... they are ORBs! If around the air is denser and moves... they are ORBS! If you listen "taos hum" ...they are ORBs that vibrate near your ear, although themselves they be not left to see... "They" want that be accustomed to their happy and peaceful presence...

If you continue seeking it and calling them, a day they will descend to yours, they will be placed to the height of your eyes and they will greet you with a smooth balance. A new and fascinating life there will be begun, because they are the principle of the wonders that expect you!
