Hey, is that a swastika on top of the object? grin

Just kidding. Probably an anomaly. Interesting though. I've searched for a variety of marine craft that might explain this, but no dice. I await the update.

Hi Swamprat, I think CNN must have changed the video since you posted it because when I click on the link it goes to a video about Syria.

But is it the same one as this?

Hi Smersh

I just clicked on it and it went straight to the video on it... and its an interesting news article. The news article was reported from London I am sure I heard them say at the end.

Yes, Smersh; that is the original announcement. It has all resurfaced again now that they've announced they're going to take another look.

A commercial opportunity out of the ordinary.

Ocean X Team has found a disc shaped object on the sea floor at 85 meters depth, but what is it?

Well, we do not know but your company should really not miss the chance of being highlighted in front of hundreds of millions TV-viewers when we found out.

We are also looking for investors who are interested in the object and can see the potential value.

I love it !!! Never waste a chance to make a buck.
I read a report today that described an 80 meter cylinder with a solid vertical tail.
Must be a slow news day.

My feeling as well Skiz. The bloke owns his own submarine and he's hoping to take lots of sightseers down to see a lump of rock. "Nice little earner" as Arfur Daley would say. wink

UFO or Ship of Gold? Sonar Image of Anomalies at the Bottom of the Baltic.

While the captain of the crew which made the discovery would like their find to be “60 meters of gold,” the finding of two huge unidentified objects at the bottom of the Baltic has made speculations run rife across the world. Added to the confusion are the facts that the discovery has been made by a company specializing in deep sea salvage. While the original finders from the Ocean Explorer company intend to return in spring when the waters are calmer, the rest of the world is moving.

The diver Peter Lindberg, who made the find remarked, “I have been doing this for nearly 20 years so I have seen a few objects on the bottom, but nothing like this.” The first pictures from the deep-sea side sonar showed a 400 meters long cylinder-shaped object with about 60 meters diameter. A second pass over the object showed up another disc-like huge-something about 200 meters off the original object first caught by the sonar.

The attention of the world has been drawn, because even according to the finders who are veterans at shipwreck discovery, the sizes of the objects are too big to be part of a shipwreck or of things fallen off a ship. The sonar pictures being analyzed by experts around the world have established that there is definitely something worth exploring, though the nature of the objects is yet to be established.

Andreas Olsson, the Head of Archaeology at Sweden’s Maritime Museums is intrigued but reserves his judgment on whether these are natural geological formations or artificial objects. Enthusiasts, however, believe that these could be parts of an UFO or a Nazi remnant.

Until more can be ascertained by the experts, the costs of a full-scale exploration cannot be justified. As expressed by Professor Andrew Lambert, an expert on maritime history from the UK, “If you want to stand in a cold shower tearing up £50 notes, go shipwrecks hunting.”

Not all, of course, are so pessimistic. An American company which recently made the prize find of two British shipwrecks containing hundreds of tons of silver off the coast of Ireland are also considering the find. Mark Gordon, president of the company Odyssey Marine Exploration says that they have on their watch list, more than 100 ships lost at sea, each having value in excess of US$ 50 million.

The hunt for shipwrecked treasure continues as a functioning industry because, as put by Gordon, “When you think about the fact until the mid 20th century, the only way to transport wealth was on the oceans and a lot of ships were lost, it adds up to a formula where we have billions of dollars worth of interesting and valuable things on the sea floor.”

So, until the waters are calm again in the Baltic, and more becomes known, these recent findings would continue to add fuel to the claims of interest groups ranging from UFO supporters to treasure hunters. At the very least, if the mystery remains unsolved due to lack of funds, it would become food for fiction.

It is interesting, but does smack of commercialism. These companies rarely lack for funding, as such would require dropping the veil of secrecy regarding a potential find. Something does sound suspicious here. I wonder what story a review of this company's financial records might tell?

Sorry, Just can't seem to post this as I would like, but here goes.I just wanted to say that where I don't know much about this company or for that matter any of these types of companies, you would think they would want to keep this hush-hush until they determine what it may be and keep the site unkown until then or after they do there dive on the sight. I do feel that in the deep waters any where in the world is the most logical place if the aliens would have to crash a ufo and want it in a place where it would be extremely hard to find or get to,or may never be found until they could repair or recover the craft, with the earth being covered by 70% water. It would be really great if we could find out just how much the navy truly knows about this as well as these types of finds. They may just wait until someone makes one of these annoucements and then they move in with all their special equipment and subs to do a salvage of the craft. I'm sure that they have the resorces considering they do submarine salvage and this would be quite similar to that up to a point. I'm sure that they may have more than likely recovered as many if not more of these craft than the air force has rolleyes . They do have and can take as much time as needed seeing how it is under water and away from the public eye. They can move in do the salvage and be out before anyone would know they were even there, don't know if they need a lot or even some surface support ships, but I guess it would make things a lot easier when it comes to loading the craft for removeal and transport . If this is one of those type of discoveries and no one wants to plan on going back until spring, then the navy could do the salvage and be in and out before anyone else even goes down to investigate the site,if they haven't been there and checked the site out already or may be removing the craft as we speak if that is truly what it is rolleyes. I truly don't think it is another Stone Henge,as they are saying cylinder, disc. But if it were then that as well would be of extreme interest as well, like the area they discovered off the coast of India I believe. If the salvage company were to go back and recover the craft if that is what it is then I'm sure that the government would move in and take over the site as well as any other information that would be sent out about what they may have recovered. It all just seems alittle strange that this company would make such a claim with the site location and then say they may not be able to go back until spring. You would think that they would say nothing until they know more about the site. With them having their own sub I believe they said, you would think they would be able to do at least a quick scan of the area with the sub, before making such a claim to the world, just doesn't seem right somehow rolleyes. I've always wondered just how many crashed space craft there are still just lying around on the bottom of the ocean and I guess in some of the larger lakes around the world. As always just my thoughts on the posting and not meant to offend anyone. smiley

Searcher, and if some Norwegian shows up trying to kill a dog? Let him do it, right? grin

Sorry, that one was too obvious. I couldn't resist. I don't see the oceans as a place to find crashed UFOs as much as I find them a place to discover lost history. Just off some coast, down about three or four hundred feet. The level the ocean was at during the last ice age. How many surprises might await us there?

They are going back!

http://www.aftonbladet.se/nyheter/article14756150.ab

Use google translate.. I do not have time to translate.. smiley

They are going back in late May. They are sponsored by a swedish production company and it is going to become a international tv-documentary.
Hope it turns out to be at least something more than a rock. smiley

Google translated..

Wreck searchers go to the bottom of the UFO enigma in May start diving in the Baltic Sea, they have been received call after call journalists and charlatans and murder threatened by Christian fundamentalists. Since divers Dennis Asberg and Peter Lindberg found a giant circle formation in the Baltic Sea this summer, thousands of interested nobody responded. Now they get to the bottom with it-literally. A UFO? A submarine base abandoned? When the wreck divers Dennis Asberg and Peter Lindberg saw the giant circle on the bottom of the Baltic, they could not imagine the enormous attention they attract. - I have received 110 000 e-mail. And 95 percent of those who heard from the UFO buffs. They are convinced that we have found a UFO, said Dennis Åsberg told Aftonbladet in January.

Runs deep Now he and his colleague Peter Lindberg shed light on the issue. In late May, the bottom at 87 meters depth and explore the formations. - First we take ground samples and see if there is toxider, radioactive material or something scary. Then, when we feel we are confident, we go down a small unmanned submarine that will go around and shoot and take samples, said Dennis Åsberg. Many of those who heard from have been impostors and tricksters who wanted to make money on the discovery. Now vrakletarna from Åkersberga found a serious financier. - We found a partnership with a Swedish production company that finances much of this. There will be a TV series to be aired internationally, said Dennis Åsberg.

Methane-ice or a Russian submarine base is assisted by the marine geologists and other scientists who all have their own theories about what's down there. - A geologist thinks it may be a gas discovery, perhaps methane ice from the ice age, said Dennis Åsberg. No UFO's, then? - 95% of people we talk to think it comes from above. And even I, who have to think professionally, begins the questioning things. We have obviously found something that is unique, now I can only say what it is. Meteorites, a UFO, a Russian submarine base from the Cold War or dumped? Let's make a really good survey to find out what it is.
