All this time I thought it was a nuclear triggering device fashioned on RCA vacuum tubes and what looks like a transistor...I almost got ready to contact the authorities then saw it was on TV..
whew false alarm.

Thanks Sys, I had not seen that recap before and came up empty with the schematic search alone. The schematic is interesting to me because it shows the effect of trying to swizzle technical symbols common at that time into more complex meaning. On a white print no less. Gotta love Hollywood. The tube is classic and not represetitive at all of the usual symbol and there's no I/O markings on critical parts to prevent mis-wiring. It is what it is intended for - a few seconds of drama not art. Hand the graphic artist a book of engineering symbols and let him/she go to town! grin

Now the parallels with the LAP design is best left to another topic. (non-humor, but then again who knows)

I'm off to look at the pictures of the interociter parts inventory and maybe pop Forbidden Planet in the player.

Great Stuff!
I posted since you had that one from the TV..did not know if you needed more
You mentioned Forbidden Planet another favorite of mine..I bet they did borrow a tad from TIE as they had a pre re;lease copy. Thats where the Krell language originated I believe.
Did you know 2 people still left alive Rex Reason and another..Russel Johnson the guy who played the Professor on Gilligans Island...IMDB had some good quotes and trivia too on it..
and if you see the key plot words listed on IMDB you see the Caret writers followed the Hollywood version faithfully

Joe Wilson: Cal, I - I know everybody's seeing flying saucers and screwy lights up in the sky. Well, you can put me in the booby hatch too, because, so help me, I saw this ship turn a bright green up there.
Dr. Cal Meacham: Are you sure, Joe?
Joe Wilson: Positive.
Dr. Cal Meacham: Did you hear anything?
Joe Wilson: Yes. A high-frequency howl, very high, all the time your ship was...
Dr. Cal Meacham: Green. Did Webb see it?
Joe Wilson: Unless he's blind.
Dr. Cal Meacham: Check him.
Joe Wilson: Right.
Dr. Cal Meacham: Oh, and Joe... until we find out what happened, all three of us were blind.

Dr. Cal Meacham: This isn't paper, it's some kind of metal!
[reads]
Dr. Cal Meacham: "Iterociter incorporating planetary generator. Iterociter with voltarator. With astroscope."
Joe Wilson: Here's something my wife could use in the house. An "iterociter incorporating an electron sorter."
Dr. Cal Meacham: Oh, she'd probably gain 20 pounds while it did all the work for her. You know, Joe, according to this, there's no limit to what it can do. Laying a 4-lane highway at the rate of a mile a minute would be a cinch.
Joe Wilson: Cal... maybe we've been working too hard.
Dr. Cal Meacham: "Complete line of iterociter parts, incorporating greater advances than hitherto known in the field of electronics." What exactly is an iterociter?
Joe Wilson: I don't know, and I don't want to know.
Dr. Cal Meacham: Well, I do. I want to know what it is and what it does. Order the list of parts on these pages.

Good Luck on Forbidden Planet!
Note he has a list of movies besides on that recap FP that were benchmarks..lol The Mysterians! thats was funny Japanese SCi Fi..Im so happy these websites are outhere
to honor these great films.

I'm Takin a Breather!!

In "This Island Earth" The base where the aliens lived and kept their spaceship was in Georgia.

I find it interesting that there has been no truly convincing debunking on the ‘Isaac’ material, even after this much time has passed.(shocked) One must admit, (edit..must we? ) even if grudgingly, that if this was a hoax, it was rather brilliantly done. From a purely graphic standpoint, the language and it’s presentation is remarkably beautiful, and the photos remain a mystery, (Edit:Mystery indeed, how quickly they were picked apart by amateurs..)with no mechanical antecedent yet found.(edit..cough..cough..) Even aspects of the story which are glibly dismissed as being ‘low grade science fiction’ are actually quite compelling and sophisticated. If this is a hoax, I for one tip my hat to the ingenuity and artistic brilliance of its creator!
(Edit: seeing no handouts placed in his asshat..He dons it back on..and walks away into the shadows)

LOL its a small internet isn't it!?

Yup. Nothin' like a good line of baloney to smooth over a misbegotten cockup that exploded all over the innernets.

Poor Paul. The only people he could hope to sway with his nonsense have partaken of the kool aid years ago and need no convincing of the "brilliance" of the shabby little enterprise.

As you have you mentioned once or twice before. You live nearby, vacation, gather or know the owner of that property?

Come on now, help us out. We are pouring our hearts, souls and sanity into this topic. Not right that you just ride along and learn for free.

The southwest corner of Georgia is a very interesting place. It has a history of what one might call wealthy hunting plantations and the military. Why not search it out for yourself. I have often wondered if the writers of "This Island Earth" knew of this. Probably a humorous coincidence.

Perhaps that is where the Farm is, but with all sincerity research this area for yourself or visit it.

Some of those in this part of Georgia would not like to be discovered and they are not moonshiners, just quietly about business.

Klat, the only cure for that unfortunately is to "Pluck it Out!" as was the remedy for the Man With the X-Ray Eyes.

Just got power back after a several hour outage. No fun trying to browse the web on a Kindle via G3! Maybe that is how Icarus feels. undecided
