MUFON has been called in to help nudists claiming that they are being watched by aliens and UFOs.

MUFON has posted signs in the area asking for help from the people who use the beach.

So MUFON has been called in to help, but has posted signs asking for help from the nudists instead. That more or less predictable response from MUFON implies that the opposites are the issue. In particular, the opposites involve upper-case and lower-case letters, consonants and vowels, and the word "beach" also written backward. Which change {-->} from the following four is the most logical?

1) beach --> BeaCH

2) beach --> bEAch

3) hcaeb --> HCaeB

4) hcaeb --> hcAEb

Mankind, you better choose wisely...

I think it is far more likely that the aliens know that "nudist beach" is a thinly-veiled anagram for 'I abduct hens'. Remember this next time a poultry farm reports a rash of mysterious mutilations.

It wouldn't be for the first time that the aliens would scramble words, and make idiots out of UFO debunkers the likes of even Carl Sagan. But anagrams are rare. A hidden word in a two-word description is a better choice to measure the ability of Homo sapiens to handle multiple choices. In this particular case, there is the location described as NUDIST BEACH. Which nudist beach? There must be hundreds around the world!

The aliens picked a particular beach. What was their criterion of choice? If there is none, there is a 99.9% chance that there was no UFO involved and the folks saw some drones or whatever.

The premier UFO trolls, like Stanton T. Friedman, have always tried hard to remove reason from the head of the ET's, so their spillage would attract wider audience, but that brought about a boomerang effect.

Anyway... NUDIST BEACH is a comprehensive union of two words - an adjective and noun - as opposed to NUDIST TANGENT, or something similar that equally doesn't make sense.

In case of NUDIST BEACH, you can see that the second word harbors another word that lives in the dictionary - the word EACH. The first word NUDIST doesn't have such property - it only features DIST, which could imply DISTurbance, DISTinct or other words that start with DIST. Which word starting with DIST would apply here?

Use both words to answer the question - simply pick additional letters from them and build the word:

NUDIST BEACH ---> DISTANCE

But there is a better, more comprehensive choice, isn't there?

NUDIST BEACH ---> SUNBATHE

Not really. You'll see why.

Ok, but what distance are the aliens talking about?

Repeat the procedure of picking letters from both words to answer that question:

NUDIST BEACH ---> INCHES

Now you can construct a case of comprehensive comparison based on a meaningful relation:

NUDIST is to BEACH as DISTANCE is to INCHES

See, the "better" word SUNBATHE doesn't have a "close friend," like DISTANCE has in INCHES.

Are DISTANCE and INCHES the only words derived from NUDIST BEACH that properly relate to each other?

You would have to make all 247,456 two-word comparisons to answer the question with certainty, because there are 704 possible words made out of NUDIST BEACH. Unfortunately, we don't have software that would understand meaning of the words, so the answer is very difficult to come by. But there is a trick which mighty increases the probability that DISTANCE and INCHES are the unique choices. Simply convert the inches.

Convert the inches? Into what, forcrysake?

The naturist section of the beach is now clearly marked by signs at both ends. Some naturists complain that the official section is too small - the traditional naturist area was 1 mile (1.6 km) in length.
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Morfa_Dyffryn

The Wiki article explicitly mentions distance 1 mile, and the aliens are pretty much aware of it. That's why they selected Morfa Dyffryn nudist beach.

So let's do the conversion. I know, it's an embarrassing task for some male earthlings, like Swamprat, but that's the way it sometimes is.

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Morfa_Dyffryn#/media/File:Northern_end_of_Morfa_Dyffrn_naturist_beach_sign.jpg

3 inches = 0.0000473485 miles rolleyes

But the main puzzle is really the one in my first reply post.
