An unidentified flying object (UFO) disrupted air traffic over Zhejiang's provincial capital Hangzhou late on Wednesday, the municipal government said on Thursday.

Xiaoshan Airport was closed after the UFO was detected at around 9 pm, and some flights were rerouted to airports in the cities of Ningbo and Wuxi , said an airport spokesman, who declined to be named.

The airport had resumed operations, and more details will be released after an investigation, he said.

A source with knowledge of the matter, however, told China Daily on Thursday that authorities had learned what the UFO was after an investigation.

But it was not the proper time to publicly disclose the information because there was a military connection, he said, adding that an official explanation is expected to be given on Friday.

Inbound flights were diverted to the nearby airports in Zhejiang province's Ningbo and Jiangsu province's Wuxi. Outbound flights were delayed for three to four hours.

A staff member at the airport's information desk said the airport had "no idea" how many flights were affected by the closure.

At around 11 pm on Wednesday, a netizen wrote three entries announcing the airport's closure in

his microblog at Sina.com, but they were all soon deleted.

He posted an apology at midnight, saying the news had not been confirmed and asking those who had republished his earlier entries to delete them.

I don't trust the duplicitous nature of the Chinese Communists, with their slavish devotion to dialectic materialism and all the general's bank accounts, and so I disregard all UFO reports out of Red China. I'm more than certain we're looking at a test of some type of military equipment. They're pretty honked off that Patriot missiles have been given to Taiwan and want to make sure Washington "gets the message".

Good point. I suppose a long-exposure shot would also explain the blurred buildings on the first image and even the 'light'. But looking at that video, there are different photos taken at different locations... so unless everyone was taking photos the same way (assuming more than one person took the pics), then I'm still not convinced.
I'm also finding it hard to believe that they would close an airport for what would in real life - not a photograph - obviously look like a plane/helicopter if it is indeed one.

Well, I guess you are talking about this video:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SKzGRu3Gp_Q

...which is only a collection of pictures that (for most of them) come from various sightings that took place at various dates...

Here are the six images:

Now, let's take a closer look.

* n6 come from John Doe's blog and was mentionned on 2007 october. (In French.)

* n4 was mentionned in ATS in 2009 July:

* n5 come from a Russian Internet Site (original page removed) and was mentionned on 2008 June...

* n3 was also mentioned in ATS in April 2010:

Hey elevenaugust;
I was aware that one image in that video was unrelated (the one with the watermark) which apparently is a helicopter.
I didn't know that another two were which makes 3 out of the 6 unrelated which really narrows it down a bit to be honest. But there are still three 'unexplained' images there (or perhaps two). Until someone comes up with a decent foolproof explanation or dead-certain reason as to why it absolutely has to be a chopper/plane, my mind is still open.
Just to let you know I'm not one of the ones jumping to ET here, I just see it for what it is, a UFO.

I was wondering why the lights wouldn't be streaked on the top if it was a long exposure, but then I realized that they're probably blinking. I think this one is busted! What about this news story? Is the story true and the photos fake, or both fake...

Hm. Following the thread on ATS and it's not really going anywhere. At the moment long exposure shots of a known craft are sounding like the most likely explanation. Still open to ideas but hmmm.

Easily faked with CG. I can do it. One can not rely on a photo of anything.

Hey All

So what does anyone think about the white plumed trail photo?

It has been reportedly connected -- one witness saying that this was the oblong object zipping away to the west. I saw another report that this was taken around the same time (same day/week) in a different area. Hard to get clear info on this one...

Regardless-- it is a very interesting photo. And is very similar to these luminous trails on vids (don't want to repeat myself but I am very interested in knowing what these are and the source):

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=G8sbCI5FXr4 (Mexico 2009) [Appears to be a large sphere in front with two dark objects on either side -- looks like those spheres seen all over and in/near chemtrails]

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BO3B1_fondo&NR=1 (Vandenburg)

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VN_y5r7vHio&NR=1 (Russia Spiral) [if this is accurate -- the spiral sure looks like that 1988 China spiral and the latest Australian spiral -- except it appears to have originated within the luminous trail]

Are these UFOs or military ("connections")??

All I can say is that whatever was on radar at the airport was interpreted as a potential threat to air safety.

Have not heard of closing down an airport, disembarking passengers, diverting incoming flights for four hours -- for any kind of identifiable helo or aircraft.

No doubt with all the sightings in the area and this reaction -- something most strange was going on there...

Adding one more recent luminous trail and possible spherical object creating it? -- this time in Kazakhstan June 30 2010. These sure are making the rounds it appears. What are they?

Hi 11a, as usual, excellent detective work from you! grin It seems then that the only photo of the object in China we're talking about is this one ...

Do you mind if I quote your post, credited to yourself, with all those photos etc in threads on the go at Space.com and Larger-Than-Life?

That's almost certainly a missile launch, as is this photo (and related video) ...

User Image

As I mentioned earlier, I now strongly suspect that that likely missile launch photo and video is just a red herring thrown in by the media in various stories about the China object to dramatize their story and has no connection whatsoever with the object in China we're talking about, because they are both entirely different and and unrelated events. It's a typical example of media manipulation in my opinion, resulting in what amounts to yet another fairy tale in the way they've reported it.

It's unfortunate, but we really CANNOT trust the media to make accurate reports in my opinion, because they just follow their own agenda in order to sell copy and make money. rolleyes
